powdercoating?
So I'm thinking about pc'ing my 99 RS rims a gloss black when they're off for the winter.
Anybody have some ballpark prices for what it'll run me?
Any other color suggestions?

On your dark car I bet White would be stunning!
There are 3 powdercoat places in Oakland and One in San LEandro.
To sand blast and powder coat my rims was $75 each at all three Oakland locations.
To sand blast and powder coat in San Leandro was only $50 each
I'm going to San Leandro.

Nice
I've already got mad dust problems, so part of the reason I want to go to black rims is to keep the wheels looking better longer...
But I know what you mean, white on black does look sweet
Let me know how the place in San Leandro turns out
Anyone else?

I have had great results with Component Finishing in Santa Clara.
That said : I've had black wheels before (on my Impala in the past). Sorta hard to explain till you try/see it, but just trust me when I say they do NOT hide brake dust....at all! In fact, brake dust is a lot MORE noticable on a gloss black wheel than on a silver wheel (i.e. what you presumably have now)! If you're looking to hide dust, go with Steel Grey or Anthracite or some similar color.

Bay Area Powdercoating in Oakland. I forgot their phone number tho.. It should be listed under 411 Directory Assistance.
$50 per wheel. Turnaround time is about 3-4 days.
If you want to hide your brake dust, you should try colors that are flat. i'd go w/ flat black, flat grey or flat bronze (brake dust color)

ACK NO! Just two nights ago I saw a 2-previous-gen Civic, black with white wheels. It looked horrible! And to top it off, it had a black H on white emblem. I was telling a friend about out and when when I mentioned the emblem he said "Oh, a bowtie!"

I think this is one of those things that sounds good in theory...

p.s. of course... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Yeah, I'm definitely thinking flat black might be a better idea...
Gunmetal or bronze might look a little sketchy since I've already got the weird bronze-grey two tone thing goin' on, and having wheels that didn't match exactly might look wierd, but not as bad as color-coded entirely
Only thing I'm curious about; I've always heard sating finishes can be a nightmare to clean; any tips, or should I not worry about it?
I keep thinking about Cal's old car and how good it looked with the flat black...
