Post up your car videos

Lets see some Gopro video's

I just picked up a roll cage mount for my Gopro cam. I had it stuck to the back window last event. The video didn't turn out as good as I hoped. The windshield was washed out.

So I am hoping that next month when I get back out on the track it will be better.

This was the 1st time out on the track with the new motor/brake set up so I was not as fast as I wanted to be. Also was on old 255-40-18 tires..
Which have been replaced with wider wheels and wider track tires.

What type of Gopro set up do you have?

Its not a car vid and its not a gopro. I just taped my flip video camera to my friends rc plane! you can see me ketch it at the end of the vid.

The best setup I have seen had two go-pro's. One mounted near the front bumper to get perfect view of the track, and one mounted to a harness bar. I'll see if i can dig up the video. The guy who made it eventually got a 7 cam setup and edited it all together. His final setup had
1. hood mounted external forward looking.(surprisingly strong suction cup)
2. trunk mounted external rear looking.(suction cup)
3. floor mounted with clear view of pedals and footwork (no idea how he got this awesome angle to work.
4. internal harness bar mounted forward looking
5. wide angle passenger pilar mounted showing driver.
6 & 7. rear facing fish eye lense to cover blind spots on both sides of the car.

All because he wanted to learn how to edit video on his new Mac.

I have used the GoPro with Suction cup and it works very very well. I chose using 720p @ 60FPS and it looks soooo good.

We did some tests at Infineon a little while back. We plan to use it on our Lemons car.
(They are new to tracking so plz no criticism about these HPDE1 skills )

I would definitely recommend getting a GoPro (Motorsports Package). While the view from the RollCage inside is nice, I would recommend considering mounting on the roof as we did. Hell, the GoPro guys mounted it on Tajima's car for the Pikes Peak run too.

You are going to want to use the mount on the diagonal there for this view as you can see you due to the wide angle, but still see out the windshield. Otherwise you can have one camera just showing the windshield, and one on the passenger side of your top bar looking at you. You need to get more of the windshield in view - it is washed out because of the drastic difference between light inside the car and light coming through the windshield.

What sort of mount are you using? I have had great luck with I/O Port Racing's camera mounts and have used this particular mount with great results. Even had it on the top bar of my MR-2 with an old huge Sony 3CCD camera on it out in the wind and it worked great. With a GoPro it will be rock solid, and you can literally stick it on any bar and level it. Great product.

Another tip is to use an extension mic, and stick it in the glovebox. Muffles the sound enough to make it sound a lot like it does when you are in the car and eliminates the wind roar.

All rolling car shots and lots of pit shots were shot with GoPro's...we would run on average 5-7 of them at a time
