Post random facts that come to mind here

You can only post facts that you remember off hand, no looking stuff up!

I'll go first.

1. Did you know that burritos are not real Mexican food? Burritos are actually more along the lines of tex mex, aka Americanized Mexican food. Most people don't believe me when I tell them even when all my Mexican friends can confirm. Their argument is always "I've been to Mexico and had burritos there", well duh! The Mexicans just adapting their menu to make more money off tourists. The more remote you go, the less of the tex mex crap you see.

Even though they now sell burritos in the touristy areas of Mexico, they didn't originate there, they originated here.

2. The planet Venus is always considered the "love" planet, or the planet from which women are from, in reality however Venus is very inhospitable and instead of raining water like earth, it rains hydrochloric acid, also known as battery acid, which makes the water there a little high quality then Mexico.

3. Peanut butter is only sold in very few countries and most folks in the rest of the world don't even know what it is, that includes Europe. The USA is by far the main buyer of all peanut butter.

4. Two wrongs DO make a right

5. If someone shot a target at 2000 meters and you were standing next to the target, you would hear the gun shot about 3 seconds after the target was already down on the floor and dead. (I believe its 3 seconds, perhaps longer, its been a while)

The Jews didn't kill Jesus. God did.

Well, the Romans did the physical act but God was ultimately responsible.

How can someone who doesn't exist kill someone?

Speed of sound is about 330 m/s, -it will take roughly 6 seconds at 2000 meters for the sound to reach the target, so depending on the muzzle velocity of the bullet, and how long it takes for your "target" to fall to the floor dead, (when you said target, I thought of a piece of paper, not something that would fall to the floor dead) 3 seconds is probably not too far off.

The fact both of you know these facts about the sniper shot and the falling target scares me, yet at the same time makes me smile.

He's responsible for the death of Jesus anyhow. He offered him for sacrifice.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whomsoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

Good call Pete. I figured that a body would take about 2 seconds to fall completely, and I'd give it about 3 seconds after until you heard the shot.

If you were really sniping someone, you'd have about 5 seconds hide back into your sniper hole.

As for the round being used, I'd use the ultimate sniper round, 300WinMag.

This is a fact I learned about 2 years ago at rifle school. You have any idea how hard it is to even see a target at 2000 meters? (almost equivalent to 2000 yards, which is 20 football fields)

If you really want to get fancy, you can put a suppressor (Silencer) can on the rifle. The purpose of silencers on high powered rifles is not to silence the rounds, its to baffle the percussion so you can't tell exactly where it's coming from. It reduces noise by a little bit, but you still need hearing protection especially when shooting a round like .300WinMag, that round has a HUGE casing with a lot of powder and the round is very high velocity. Goes through steel plates like hot butter. Hell, even .308 will go through a half inch piece of steel like NOTHING, .223 however wont go through it, it will only dent it a bit.

I was just razzin you dude. I'm not the religious type at all, I'm agnostic, but that doesn't mean I don't respect your religion. Like I said in another thread, just because I have an opinion doesn't mean I can't respect someone else's opinions, be it religion to automobiles. I can't stand close minded people.

I never claimed anything about religion. You asked for random facts and that is the first thing that came to mind. It was logical as I was reading an email about Jews. Well, one in particular. JewPac. Blame him.

Another fun fact - San Diego does not mean "Whales Vagina".

- The Nile river is the only major river in the world that flows from south to north. It's actually traveling down hill.

- Horses are not native to North America. Well, they were, but they died out around 15,000 years ago most likely due to the ice age. Horses weren't reintroduced until the arrival of European settlers in the 1400s. Before then, the Native America's only mode of travel was walking.

- John J. Montgomery was the first man to achieve flight in a heavier-than-air vehicle in 1883. He invented a functional glider. My elementry school was named after him.

- The first cigarette lighter was invented in 1823. Bic did not come out with the modern disposable lighter until 1973, an entire 150 years later.

Did you know that Nikola Tesla invented electricity, not Alexander Graham Bell. Tesla got robbed and cheated by Graham Bell big time.

Also, did you know that Nikola Tesla was a Croat?

That's good to know!

I'd have a harder time believing it if you told me it was traveling uphill...

I know he was born in Smiljan, and he invented a whole huge list of things we take for granted these days, but it might be a stretch to say he "invented electricity".

But he does get full credit for inventing Radio (Marconi was the historical figure who too often was credited on that one) AC power transmission, high voltage discharge coils, early work with X-rays and a whole mess of other electrical motors generators and various gadgets.

And if there was a person who robbed and cheated Tesla "big time" as you put it, I'd say that person was Thomas Edison, (well, him and Marconi) who was pushing for DC power distribution systems while Westinghouse and Tesla were promoting AC.

He was ahead of Graham Bell, yet Graham Bell gets credit for it because he filed a paten before Tesla?
