Possibly needing a new Pet Friendly place
It's getting to be that time of year again where the annual lease is up. Looks like pricing across the board has taken a fairly significant jump up to where 2 Bedroom / 2 Bath all look to be about $2K+ for pet friendly places. I have a dog and a cat, the cat doesn't seem to be the problem at places though so much as my dog (which he is only about 40-45 lbs).
So the question is, does anybody know of any good Pet Friendly places still around the East Bay / South Bay that would be Sub $2K?
I'm guessing the best situation may end up getting into a pet friendly house.
I'd like to keep it limited to Walnut Creek (at the farthest) on the North Side, Livermore on the East, pretty much anything before Highway 17 on the South Side and ideally not have to cross any bridges on the West since I work in Fremont.
I'll still have to see what the situation is with my roommate as he and I may decide to just re-up the rent for 1 more year (or it looks like they are only offering up to 11 month long leases now for some reason), but just trying to figure out my options as I may end up needing to move.
I am willing to look at 1 bedroom places as well depending on the pricing.
TIA

Checked those apartments/condos down the road from me on Lowry in Union City yet? I'll ask Wifey to check around again, but you seriously gotta figure out something to rent longer or ponyup like we did. I'll pm ya any leads.

Yes really, just because I make decent money doesn't mean I particularly want to send the entire thing out the door on rent. Realize to that the cost of rent won't be the only thing will increase. The price of gas I fully expect will get up to $5.00+ possibly within this next year which means the cost of groceries and other bills will all increase as well. While I can't determine the cost of all of the items outside of where I live, I can at least do my due diligence to see if there are cheaper options before locking myself in to another contract.
If in doubt, FLAT OUT

My complex is pet friendly, but probably not UNDER what you're asking. In that ballpark for 2b/2b. Traffic sucks morning/evening though because close to all 3 major freeways (880/101/280)

Ever consider just buying and paying a mortgage instead of rent?
2k will get you a pretty nice place including property tax
HO insurance is up to you and or credit lender if you're FHA or not
350k loan 20% down is around 1899/month

The Sonora Way one's in a great spot and a good neighborhood. Mostly renters on that section, all commuters I see shuffling across the boulevard in the morning and the evening coming to and from the Dumbarton Express.
GO FOR IT! You got GST up the street and my garage the other way.
*Yes Gagan, I do. Sold the condo last year and we bought Wifey's siblings out of their shares of the inherited property. For what I paid, the location, the location, and also the location you couldn't beat it.

Basically without the necessary Down Payment, I'm stuck in rental purgatory until I can get that amount saved. I'm working on it, but I want to be looking on my own terms instead of trying to rush just to buy property within the next month.
I do want to own as then I will stop having to worry about all these freakin' rental rate increases occuring, but that's just not in the cards just yet.
