Eh, should the stock hangers just slide right off? I was surprised when I saw how fricken hard it is to get em off (haven't actually removed any yet). Is there a trick to it?

Also, my new Cobb polyurothane (spelling) hangers, should they slip on or is there a trick to that as well?

Use WD40 and some big channel locks. Combo of those two "tools" makes this an easy job.

 

yea what impala said, just spray them with wd40 then take pliers and push on the metal part of the exhaust. It will just pop off.

 

You don't need WD40 or channel locks. Just pull hard and wiggle a lot, and they should eventually come off.

 

Pull and wiggle or use silicone spray.

WD40 is not the right tool for the job.

 

I've removed/installed many exhausts and wd40 seems to work everytime for me. Hangers slid right on and off and after a few minutes the wd40 dries up and the exhaust stays in place.

 

whatever's clever fellas, I lubed mine because I didn't want the new hanger to scratch from force, and cause some crack to form or anything...

 

WD40 contains a substantial amount of petroleum distilates which collect dirt and dust. To top it off, the oils will get tacky in cold weather and over time they will get hard.

Silicone spray is OK. WD40 is not the right tool for this job.

 

Aegon : simply wipe off the WD40 once you are done. You are just using a little bit of it here, not putting a permanent coat of it on the hanger

 

OK, if you are good at wiping the space between the hanger and the mount, go ahead and use WD40. I guess my fingers are just too small.

Otherwise, try some silicone spray.

 

I've R&R'ed the exhaust quite a few times now (tried several setups and multiple hanger sets before settling where I am at now).....trust me, it isn't an issue long term either
