Polished my car today
Well actually it took me 2 days and I clay barred, polished, and waxed it, but it was well worth the effort. Soooo shiny:-)
Anyhow sorry for the crappy pics, but you can only do so much with a shop light and I probably won't have chance to snap any pics during daylight this week.

It doesn't translate well in the pics but the surface looks like glass now and has depth that waxing alone wouldn't have acheived.

Yeah, I knew that wax just coats I just didn't know that the factory job needed fixing. Good to know, mines a year old and I was thinking about doing a detail job...now I know it's definatly worth it.

A good way to test for paint contaminents(after washing) is to put your hand in a sandwich bag, put it on the area of paint you want to test (around the fenders, near the rocker panels and on the hood are good places to test) and with the bag stationary run your fingertips over the inside of the bag. If you feel any specks or bumps, your paint could probably benefit from a clay bar (which should always be followed by polish and wax).
