So me and mr lanz0r recently rebuilt a little pocket bike we own. Thing is we need somewhere to ride it. i know theres gotta be somewhere out there we can use these things without violating some sort of law. I already had my chance when i went for a little cruise down my street and back. I was pulled over but let off with a warning and told to walk the bike home ....So now im wondering if anybody has any info on where its ok to ride pocket bikes TIA everyone

It's a funny thing cause coips can tell you that you can't use them on the street........but you can it's 49cc so you dont need a DL for them, that also means it is the same as a goped bike lanes on rds with a speed of 35mph or less!! I have one and deal with the cops bs all the time. I also have full working lights, and turn signals haha

search craigslist.. there are some nice deals out there. but shop around and inspect them before buying.

hey do you need a helmet when you ride these, i am thinkin about going and buying one manana. that looks liek ti would be fun just to cruise around on.

 

I would HIGHLY recommend at least a Helmet and some knee pads might be a good idea... Pocket Bikes are not very easy to ride at all (Unless you are less than 4 feet tall).

 

what i meant was a m rated helmet or would any helmet do. for instance i have an old dirtbike helmet but its not snell rated or m rated.









also matt, from all the laws i read you can get nailed riding them on the street. pm me a link so i can get clearance from the wife.

she says they are not legal anywhere except private property unless the meet the requirements of a motor cycle i.e. headlight, turn signals, brake light, muffler, registration, etc...

Damn Ryan you don't F around... I would say that you would be fine with a BMX/skateboard helmet. You aren't going to fall far if you lay the thing down, but you will most likely slide for a bit, so you will want something thick. Hence also the knee pads, your knees will probably be out in front of the front wheel, if you start to lose it, you will hit knees before melon.
