Question plz help with sanity check!

ok I decided to buy a BMW m3 instead of an STI as a stable mate to my 05 lagacy GT (plz no comment on choice, separate thread).

I am thinking of getting it from those dudes:

http://www.autos-wholesale.com/ it would be an auction-bought lease return that I can inspect at a dealer before handing moneys over.

Where is the potential for fail? Anyone heard of those guys? They legit?

plz someone must know! BMW forums knows nothing I comes crawling back to Subaru as always.

I see no issues if they let you get it inspected first...

Their prices were pretty fair, I was dealing with Manuele (Manny) when I was Audi A4 hunting. He would show me the list of vehicles available at the auction and we'd come up with a list. They only make about $750 on each vehicle. Do at least a carfax on the vehicles you're interested in.

If you want, I can talk to my Used Car Manager and see what he knows about them. He's been buying and selling cars at auctions for about 20+ years, so if they're reputable he's bound to have heard of them.

I work and play with bmw's for a living, pay extra and buy a certified one. You would not believe the costs on little things. I know people complain about dealer prices, but when it comes zee germans you are better off paying that premium and getting the warranty. My E46 M3 had a constant electrical issue that i just gave up on.

Sammy

sammy: so in your opinion e46 m3 with about a year left on factory warranty or brand new 135i? imho e46 m3 (due to occasion trackday potential and sweet looks) but the 135 is growing on me... cost about same...

Why not support Alchemy Motors (a vendor here, licensed car broker)? I'm sure he'd be happy to fill the order for exactly what you're looking for at a fair price.

No better words were spoken.

FWIW... all/most used cars go to auction at some point; trade in's get wholesale'd, dealers looking for something particular buy @ auctions, etc.

Didn't know about Alchemy Motors, but if he has a car for sale that I like thats good for me :-) !

The guys above had reasonable prices but i never dealt with them or purchased from a lease return auction before, so afraid of fail.

Car Info: ever changing vehicles...
Thanks for the referrals guys!

I don't currently have any BMW's. I'm more familiar with Subarus, Newer Audis and MKV VW's.

I currently have a 2006 GTI (these are fun!) and a 2005 Jeep Liberty Diesel Limited. These are pretty rare but none of these are what you're looking for.
I just sold the only Subaru I had.

I can look for whatever you want but the process can take awhile sometimes.

As far as used dealers/brokers go... I've seen some pretty shady people at the auctions and have seen a lot of crap go through. I've learned, the hard way, that a lot of them cannot be trusted. I've also met some nice, honest people at the auctions so like any deal look it over well.

I like buying late model cars as they are usually under warranty so there is generally nothing to worry about.

I read through the site you linked to and they sound like how I try to run my small business (only they have more capital). If they already have what you want then I'd look into it.

No offense to Alchemy, but I talked to my Used Car Manager and he recommended paying a little extra for one that has been Certified by BMW. You can still get a great deal on one if you know what you're doing, or if you know the right people. The big advantage is that BMW certified techs service the car after it comes from the auction/trade in and before it hits the front line. Plus it has an extra BMW Certified warranty. Extra warranty on a Bimmer is always good.

If you're interested in going this route, I know a lotta guys in the business and can get you in touch with the right people. GSM at Concord BMW is a close friend of a close friend.

ex-ricer: i am interested, but the prices i keep on seeing at the dealerships are way more then private party/auction. I know what I want to spend, is there a way to get like a realistic little-haggle price out of a dealer on a CPO? Anyway I am interested, if its within my limit.
