so i went to San Jose's Santa Clara Hospital (one of the best in the country for burns, brain damage, and spinal issues) to visit my friend mikey. i think that was the hardest thing on earth. got there around 7am and didnt leave till about 9pm. its so difficult seeing him like that. he isn't awake. he is just in a state just below conscience.

they have him sedated because of pain and his body will go into shock if he wakes up completely. i held his hand for a minute and he gripped it and i couldnt stop crying. its seriously the hardest thing ive ever had to deal with. i wanted to take a picture so friends could see what state hes in but i want to respect him too so i held off on that.

here is the low down of his status.

1 - fractures upper spine/neck area
2 - 25% of his body has 3rd degree burns on his arms and legs
3 - 10% of his body has 2nd degree burns
4 - broken right leg
5 - broken tail bone
6 - fractured eye brow bone thing.
7 - broken hand.
8 - broken foot
9 - not sure what but a problem with his eye socket
10 - 8 stitches on his chin
11 - broken jaw
12 - cuts stitches, and burns on his butt
13 - broken pelvis
14 - fractured cheek bone

i look at this list and cannot believe it. its so hard to think about all this happened to my friend who is basically a brother to me.

he at this point is completely unaware of whats happening, cannot talk, and cannot comprehend anything as he is essentially asleep. i cannot imagine the pain he's gonna be in both emotionally and physically when he comes off the sedation.

imagine waking up and the last thing you remember is being with your friend and now you are waking up in a hospital and being told your friend died in an accident and you survived as the passenger.. im sure hes gonna feel guilt for being the one who survived. and hes gonna be horribly upset knowing his best friend of 16 years is dead and he didn't even get to goto his funeral...

****in a. i cannot believe this **** is real.

thanks for the thoughts and prayers guys.

not at this point besides prayers,

im scared to see what their hospital bill is gonna be after insurance runs out. we're talking about setting up a local fundraiser thing for his family to help them. cause its not gonna be cheap for the doctors to do skin grafting. and all that.

you should contact local papers and charities and im sure I-club (BAIC) would love to help donate some. if need be contact discovery channel and TLC if they do a recovery story on him, i hear they pay a lot.

Quite a list, I can't imagine being in his shoes.

If you do organize anything for a fund raiser, let us know.
