Please don't drink and drive tonight! (better yet, don't drive at all!)

Over the last 5 years I have lost 3 people to drunk driving accidents on this exact day (damn St Patrick's day). Cops are out in FULL FORCE, so please dont drink and drive. There will be a lot of drunks out tonight so better to just avoid the roads all together.

Speed safely!

Yeah, it's better just to stay off the road-period.

Or better yet, go out and party hard, and get free cab fare home.

Tow service and free cab rides offered for tipsy St. Patrick's Day revelers

If you have too much alcohol to drink today for St. Patrick's Day, you can grab a free cab or even get your car towed home.

Berg Injury Lawyers is sponsoring free cab rides in Alameda, Oakland, Berkeley and San Francisco. The free rides can be requested between 3 p.m. this afternoon and 3 a.m. Thursday.

In Alameda, Oakland or Berkeley call Veterans Cab at 800-281-4488; in San Francisco call Luxor Cab at 415-282-4141.

The "Tipsy Tow" service, offered by AAA Northern California, provides towing from 6 p.m. today to 6 a.m. Thursday in Northern California, Nevada and Utah.

Drivers, passengers, party hosts, bartenders and restaurant managers can call 1-800-222-4357 (AAA-HELP).

The service will provide a one-way ride for the driver and vehicle to the driver's home, up to five miles. If there are additional passengers who need a ride, they will be taken to the driver's home if there is sufficient room in the tow truck.

I couldn't agree more. What's better? Spending $20 for a cab, or paying $2,500 worth of DUI fees (jail, impound, ticket, insurance, plus more), or even worse of all, paying with your life (or someone elses life). I don't know what's worse... Knowing that you killed someone because you were drunk, or to die from driving drunk... I think I'd rather die than to be responsible for taking someone elses' life.

It's just not worth it, so PLEASE do what you can to avoid this type of situation all together.

Hell I live in North Beach, they'll be closing the streets here in a couple hours for the party and I just have to walk downstairs!

Better make it a bit more than $20 depending on where you live! Last cab ride from SF to San Carlos was almost $100!! Of course it was well worth it. Sucks when you miss the last train tho!! I wish Caltrain would run a "cleanup" train around 3am or something.

Remember: a man takes a drink, the drink takes a drink, the drink takes the man. Words to live by!!

it was pretty bad when i was driving home from work. I saw 3 people pulled over and 4 obvious drunk drivers. What makes it worse is my commute is 10 miles at the most.
