Place to swap wheels?

Hey guys,

Just got a new set of wheels with tires and I'm looking for a good place in SF that can dismount my BBS set and install my stocker set. Last time I swapped wheels was at Americas Tire and they charged $70. Is that normal?

$70? LOL

Most places will do it for what they charge for tire rotation. ~$20.

I'm sure you can find an i-club member that has a jack and stands in the area willing to help out...

Not in SF, but Hanlon's Tire in San Bruno is awesome and I can't imagine they would charge that much, but give them a call. I have gotten all my tires from them for the last 4 or so years and they always treat me right.

You don't even need jack stands. Since you have another set, just jack it up and swap the wheel.

I picked up a jack + jackstand combo craftsman branded at Sears recently for $26.

Just do it yourself, 1 wheel at the time! Make sure you use a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts!!!

+1 for do it yourself! For the price a shop would charge you can purchase all the tools you need. I agree on using a torque wrench for wheel lugs.

Get yourself a torque wrench and find a quiet place.

$70 sounds like tire mounting money. I went to a shop in SJ just to get a set of wheels balanced, $20 and they ended up putting them on my car too.

I feel like if you don't know how to swap your wheels and you have an enthusiast car you may have made some bad decisions along the way.

I do know how, just don't have the tools to make it a "quick" swap sir. I live in SF and don't have a garage. And you're also incorrect about the bad decisions. The only bad decision I've made is wasting brain cells replying to you.

But thank you to everyone else for your input! That $26 combo at Sears sounds great. But I found someone who owns a shop that can do it for free tomorrow. Thanks again for everyone's help!

You don't really need a garage to do it..just find a flat street and do it there..but you found a shop so doesn't matter now ha
