Any dog can be a monster. My brother had a pit. It was the sweatest dog ever. Very well trained and behaived. Although it was too nice. Anyone could walk up to the house and walk right past it as if they were best friends. I have a German Shepherd right now. He's 1.5 yrs old and pray you never jump over my fence....lol....

Point being, any dog will bite your arm off if not trained otherwise, or if it's been abused and just doesn't know any better.

Pitt's are just really tough dogs. Over the years, they've been selected as the perfect dog to fight. Then from there on out just got a bad rap. It could have been any dog though...

Its mostly about the owners as we all know. Any dog can be raised badly.

The difference is that a badly raised Rott/Pit can do a lot more damage than a badly raised Chihuahua.

pits

Yeah, its all about training and there will always be a few that are nutty just like people. No single breed can be perfect. My pitt barks on command and scares the **** but will never bite. super good with kids/people/other dogs etc. Smarter then my husky.

Let me get this out there first before I post. I love dogs, have been a dog owner my whole life till my last Chow died before I left NYC. I would have a dog now but they don't allow pets. Anyways you can't say any dog can be a killer, that's not true. Yes any dog can bite but not many can bite with the force of a Pit. If I recall correctly only Pit's and Chows have the ability to lock their jaws. Which means once that son of a ***** bites down ther ain't no letting go until something gets ripped off. It's already been posted here several times about illegal breeding and raising of animals. Pit's have a bad rap but they have it for a reason.

No dude, my cat has bigger nuts than that. I think its abnormal or something..and my dog always seemed to try to bite them. rofl but thats beside the point. My grandpa had a pitbull (it died) that I had known for years, and one day I went to pet it and it bit me, like a straight up bite - i was hella bleeding. I personally wouldn't get one just because they seem sort of unstable in my opinion.

Yup, Chows are just Pits cleverly disguised in teddy bear suits.

No dog has the ability to lock its jaws... urban myth about pit bulls.

They are a big strong dog, thats all. They were bred to be loyal and to possess the physical characteristics to be able to fight. The mental part is all in how the dog is raised.

A knife can be forged as a show piece or as a tool, its only a weapon if you make it one.

ive met pits that are nicer than ANY other dog i have EVER met of ANY breed. nice to pups, children, and even other non-fixed dogs.

ive also met a 4 month old pit that latches on to whatever dogs neck that crosses its path and wont let go until u shoot the crap out of her with a water hose.

i heard somewhere that they are going to outlaw pitbulls in CA soon... not sure how true that is tho.

this is why i have a pitbull/german shepherd/doberman mix. he is a cool little pup.

edit: my vet refused to write pitbull down on the breed part of file because they dont want to see me lose my dog.

Hey everyone im new here but i just had to jump on this thread because i own 2 pits! they are my baby girls!!! i wouldnt own any other dog since having these two! they are the best tempered dogs ive ever had. Its all in how you raise them. Of course i took a lot of responsibilities in guiding them and even more out in public because of the media.... i dont want to loose my girls.

this is Cammy....how could you not love a dog that lets you torture her like this?

ps....everyones pits in this thread are sick! beautifull dogs...i mean KIDS!

pitbulls are the most loyal to their owners compared to any other breed. they have bad raps because they are strong dogs and are often chosen by people who want to fight them against other dogs.
