dayam...that is scary, hope everyone down there is okay...i got some friends and family near the fires down there...
i wonder who started the fires...if it is arson, those guys should be shot..maybe light a small part of them on fire to show them how much pain they have caused...

that is all bad. kinda reminds me of the oakland hills fires. i remember going outside and seeing ash fall on to my houes, all the way in san francisco over by SF state. I hope they find a way of putting thoes fires out soon.

I was down in Costa Mesa this weekend, 70 miles from the nearest fire. The sky was full of smoke and it was raining ash the whole time I was there. In fact, even after the 425 mile drive home, my car still looks like I parked it in a fireplace.
Here's a few pix I took in Orange County

I used to live down there...have to call my cousins today. I did not realize it was so close to everything....scary.
picture in the chron this morning of the simi fire.......huge wall of flames coming up on a couple hundred homes.....of the $600k up variety. And one huge wall coming up on what looked like a good million and halfer. Scary for these people....they were talking about insurance and how even people with insurance probably haven't been up to date and most won't get enough to cover the building cost of the new home let alone replacing belongings.
I really hope the cold air that's coming through the next 3 days brings some help and they shut these things down pronto.
