Talking Pics from fabulous Dubuque, IA!

I just got back from a few days in Iowa. I went out there on business. I expected it to be a real podunk town that had like 4 houses in a cornfield. Turns out I was way off base. It was a cool town - real pretty, VERY nice people and a neat little town. The town is located right up on the border of Illinois, and within a few minutes you can go from Iowa, to Illionois and then in to Wisconsin.

They had some kick *** restaurants (I ate at one place that served Bison..oh, baby, that was goooooood). They also had some cool bars and drinks were SO cheap. I bought a few rounds of drinks the other night - there were about 7 drinks there, and it was only $22!! Three of the drinks were doubles!

So on to the pics!

Out from my hotel room, right. In the distance you can see a bridge (upper right). That bridge crosses the Mississippi river and in to Illionois. Keep going that way and you'll run in to Wisconsin within a few miles too :

You could get a pretty decent place 3bed/2bath for like $85k, but most of the homes there were built pre-1930! I guess Dubuque is the first town founded in Iowa so there's a lot of history there, and many houses built in the 1880s! There were some real nice houses with land that were up around $235k and some even as high as half mil, but it has like 100 acres.

I wouldn't want to live there, but it sure would be cheap if I did

LOL I was just out to IA (Cedar Rapids and DesMoines) on business as well, and for fun grabbed a renters guide;

$350 / mo = 1500Sq ft 3br. 2ba

Funny thing is that I saw a trailer park off I-35. Now those people just aren't even trying..

Haha man that looks like a pretty nice town though, even if it is Iowa and those prices are insane.
