Pass smog with TGV delete and ported stock wastegate?

I was thinking of doing these things down the road but I didn't know for sure if you would still be able to pass smog with these two things. I've heard you're fine with the TGV as long as the car is warmed up but I haven't heard anything about passing with a ported stock wastegate.

Forgot to mention that I would be getting a tune along with these mods.

I have TGV deletes and pass smog with flying colors. TGV deletes do absolutely nothing more than eliminates the butterfly valves that restricts intake air on cold motor starts. Once the motor is warm, they do nothing. So in short, as long as you get smogged with your motor already warm, it will be like there not even there. However, if you go to get smogged and there is a wait, go somewhere else so your motor remains warm lol.

Hope that helped?

Yeah it did thanks. I'm still wondering about the ported wastegate. I would prefer to have a EWG but I know that I would fail the visual instantly

Why do you prefer an EWG?

Ability to hold boost better, faster spool, more power and the sound

I prefer the boost control that you get from it, just don't like the attention the sound brings. I will probably run ewg on my next setup, will probably make a silencer for it to tone it down.

OP, your car should have no problem passing the sniff portion of the test with the ported wastegate as long as you have the stock down pipe on it. The wastegate will not be open during the test, its just a two stage idle test.

What about running an EWG but have the dump tube tie back into the exhaust to reduce noise?

On a stock turbo you don't gain much with a EWG, now on a bigger turbo is where you will get the most gains. A good tuner should beable to tune IWG and be close to EWG numbers, unless your pushing the turbo to the limits the IWG works great. With all the laws in California the EWG is not the smartest idea, most cops know what to look for.

The gains from the EWG isn't as important to me as the ability to get rid of the boost creep I might get from a catless downpipe. The power/sound is just an added bonus.

Have you shared these thoughts with a tuner? I'd be interested on what one of our local tuners think.

What kind of boost are you running?

Some smog shops(I hear) won't care about a FMIC. But the rest of the stuff might fail the visual...
