Question Part availability for 02-03 in the future

I was wondering what people thought about the availability for parts for the 02-03 WRX. Since the new body style has made several parts "obsolete," how much support do you think will be given to the first generation of WRXs in the near future?

My 2 cents: Support will probably wane in the next few years, but parts will be made for these early models for a long time to come as so many people bought them up.

I dought that SOA will make parts unavaiable for quite some time. I had a bunch of repaires done on my 90 Legacy and parts seemed avaiable all of the time. Each dealiership that I brought it to for repair, they always had the parts in stock. so I would be that in about 10+ years as there are mutch less on the road, then they will start reducing production on them.

just my .02

I believe mfgers are legally responsible for producing parts for something like 15 years after the vehicle has gone out of production.

...or are you referring to aftermarket parts?

I was mainly referring to aftermarket parts, I would assume Subaru would supply OEM parts for that car for years and years to come, as I know Toyota still caries parts for cars from 1986 and perhaps older.

yea, just because the new WRX made some parts obsolete....doesnt mean that all the older WRX's are gone.....as long as there are MY 02-03 WRXs, they will make parts for 'em. I mean the STILL make parts for original 1960's era Mustangs/camaros......they may or may not be OEM...but they are the correct parts none-the-less.

OK thanks for input...

Do you think prices will go down as more models of WRX/Sti are produced?

It seems to me that all the parts that are going to be made for the 02-03s have already been made. I fear that research and development on parts for these cars will fall off soon, as R&D time will instead go into 04s or 05s when they come out.
