Paintball question: on tippmann

I was looking at the 98 custom and the A-5, which one is better??
in terms of which one is easier to maintain?? which had more mod??

I saw the A-5 offer a flatline barrel upgrade (seems like a good upgrade)...
anyway, just want to see what good around....

Imo tippman sucks I worked at santa clara paintball we rent out 98 customs to the rental players, they're horrible guns along with spyders just get something decent like an ion.. Tippmans are waste

the flatline barrel is a gimmick.. don't spend money on it.

I would suggest looking elsewhere other then Tippman for a gun as well.

as lanz0r said, look at a SmartParts ION, for the money($200ish), its the best entry level electric gun you will find.

that is why I wanna come here and ask, cause I think I will get more answer here...

by the way, I live in fremont...is there any local shop I can goto??

No I don't work there anymore but many of my friends still work there, they don't sell guns there but many people that play there have guns to sell, im telling you from experience, tippmans are horrible horrible guns that's the reason they're rented out lol

Check if it turns on, make sure the pressure regulator works, make sure it doesn't have any drop offs (paintballs that come out weak) a few may come out strong and fast but once you start shooting faster some may come out weak and slow so make sure you check for that and make sure there's no air leaks, that's all I can think of

Im not to sure with smartparts guns if you wanna go with a newer better gun id get a etek ego but you'd be looking at spending a few bills

The only problem I had with my 98 custom was that the response trigger would get stuck sometimes and not fire. Other then that, it was a decent marker. I upgraded from that to a '01 black magic autococker...nice looking piece. Haven't played in so long, I don't know anything about the new hardware. Good luck!

Just go to the frontline sports store and talk to stan there, he should be able to help you pick a good gun, btw that gun is probably 20x lighter than a tippman
