Packers Beat Whiners!!!

How about them Niners, huh? What do you Niners fans have to say now? 9-5 just like I said. And don't make up excuses for injuries or none of that cr@p. Niners got beat fare and square.

Its 4th down, Garcia steps back to throw, pass is thrown, right down into the grass!!!! HAHAHAHA. LOL.

How does it feel?????

Raiders lost

so the whiners HAVE to lose.

9-5...

it's cool though, still got 2 more games, and with a 11-5 record, still possible to get into playoffs.

ACTUAL INTELLIGENT FOOTBALL DISCUSSION FOLLOWS. SMACK TALKERS CAN SKIP THIS POST.

It's not just the number of injuries, it's specifically who it is.

Having Bronson and Winborn on the field completely changes the enitre makeup of the D. Starting with Bronson-

Bronson make the secondary calls for the Niners. He assesses the offense as it approaches the line and any motion the use and changes coverages if necessary. This is the reason Tony Parrish is playing free safety right now- John Keith has simply been so busy the last 2 1/2 years getting healthy he doesn't have a good feel for the defense. Plus, he's not as good in coverage as Parrish. Same reason Peterson played SS at Dallas instead of FS. Further, Bronson is as good at playing "centerfield" as any other DB in the league. It's why he had 8 picks last year.

Winborn is even more important. He is normally the Niners coverage LB. When he is on the field, it allows Jimmy Jr. to make better use of Peterson's incredible athleticism and versatility. Peterson is by far the best blitzer on the team and is the biggest reason that Andre Carter started the season with oodles of sacks. It's absolutley no coincidence that the week they lost Winborn was the week the team went from 3+ sacks per game to having 3 in 7 games, including the one that Detmer gave them by falling down on the first play of the Eagles game. If Rasheed were healthy, he may be the same type of player, but even he is probably still too green to be trusted to do what Winborn does. Ulbrich and Smith are good against the run, but neither can cover a WR or even a decent TE. This is what is making the Niner D so one-dimensional, and we know what happens to one-dimensional teams in the NFL.

Also take note of the fact that only 4 of the players to see significant time for the D this year are over 28. This is a D that is maybe one decent player from the next draft from stepping up to being dominant.

Now if only they would fire Gregg Knapp and let Walsh run the offense. Jeff Garcia may not be Joe Montana, but he's closer than anybody else in the league when you look at his skills.

Joseph,
Your just mad because the Niners got beat by a MUCH better team.

And when did the Garcia/Owens connection ever happen? It didn't. Garcia has never beaten Green Bay in regular season or playoffs. In fact, the Niners have only beaten the Packers once, in the last 6 years, and the was concussions boy, I mean Steve Young. Get your story straight. Who's the haters now?

Go Pack.

i think you Packer fans should THANK the 49ers.. your team would be nowhere without them. who's offense do they use? What coach MADE the Packers good? (holmgren). Where did he come from (SF).

ha ha... u think i'm mad?

i'd be killing myself if that was the case.

i say that the niners are worse that 1/4 of the league.

besides.. i don't really care for the packers... our superbowl was againts oakand... so the year is not a waste.

i think the league is pretty watered down... no real dominant teams... well... let me take that back... you can DREAM that your packers are the greatest since video games were invented... but the truth is that there are too many teams... and not enuff talent.

go niners!

at this point i just want a rematch.

What about him? Brett Favre is not the same TYPE of player as Montana. Garcia is, although neither one is or ever will be as good as Joe Cool. Favre wins games because he can make pretty much any throw, any time, which hides the fact he's really not better than maybe 5th or 6th best in the league today at reading defenses. He's not bad, just not superb like Montana. Montana used average physical skills and an incredible ability to find weaknesses in defenses to beat them. Garcia is closer to being like Joe than any other active quarterback. Notice that nowhere in either of these posts did I say Garcia is the best QB in the league. Favre has the better track record right now, but it's no accident that Garcia is the 4th highest rated passer EVER and the all-time LEADER in TD/INT ratio.

Super bowl:

Eagles over Miami 27-21 after beating the Pack at home who beat the Bucs at Tampa. All the home-field turns out to be meaningless since GB doesn't get it and it doesn't really help Tampa. Raiders lose their first game by about 25 points. Niners will lose to Philly in the divisional game, but play much better than the Monday nighter.
