Question Pacific Stereo, in Fremont, any good?

I am having a new Clifford Arrow 5 alarm installed on my car tomorrow that I am buying from Pacific Stereo over by Costco (the one you can see from 880 S.).

I am having them install it as well. The reason that I am concerned is because:

Yesterday I was calling around, and only 1 shop out of 5 would give me a price on a Clifford alarm. They said that Clifford (DEI) disallows such practices.

I picked the shop closest to my house and went in for a quote last night. Dude (I don't know if he was Arabic of Isreali, but heavy accent and Med. look) would not give me a price until I put a $20 deposit down. He guaranteed me the best price. After I agreed, and was pleased with the price, I paid him, but...

Doesn't that seem like a shady practice. I was not to pleased. Please tell me that their work is good and that my mind can rest easy.

Thanks,
Andy

i'd be careful with pacific stereo, I have heard they are not authorized dealers for a lot of major brands they sell and their installers are not the best out there as well...if u can get the unit off him cheap call David Pena and have him install it for you (510-290-0639) he did work on 2 of my cars (both 5 speeds with remote start), and he has worked on my WRX and it came out perfect...Also stay away from Stereo City on thornton and Auto Sound and Security ( I think on stevenson)

dont go to pacific stereo unless u want it to look like ****. the prices are great, but the installs are worthless.

I bought my box and subs from Pacific Stereo but when I asked them a question about wiring something up, they couldn't give me an answer.

we've known each other since 5th grade. woodshop class, IIRC

went through high school, logan, class of 85.

then he started his shop after HS. during my soph year in college, i got the car audio bug. was checking out local places and i called this place called SOUND INNOVATIONS. they had this part i needed. so i visited them.

we met. he's all, "i know you..." i'm all, "ernesto?"

then for the next year or so, i hung around SI a lot. he was a little miffed at me at one point when i wanted his shop to do an insurance job on my truck. but my dad (back then) wanted another shop to do it.

i was gonna have them install the alarm on my wrx last year. but then i stopped everything on the wrx when i heard the STi was gonna be here.

If it's expensive, might as well pay the extra cash to get a simple piece of mind. Get what ya paid for right? Thanks for letting us get a heads up on the place. I'll take my car there to get a deck installed someday.

My friend works at wireless world, and is very good at installing alarms. He does occasionally do side-jobs for alot less money, so if you are interested then PM me.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't do ANYTHING with them, their a total rip. I got a hook up somewhere else that will get you the latest auto start alarm and remote sensor from Viper. Type VX 790 For around 300 bux.. maybe a little higher. But that's wayyy better than gettin' it from a place chargin' 500+ tax. I've come to the i-club meets sometimes.. sorta late in an '03 AW WRX Sedan.
