Getting there...things have been very hectic around here....last weekend we had to relable the 2000 Cabernet Souvignon and then bottle and lable the 2001 Cab. This was quite a weekend, but now that things are starting to die down again, I may have some time to sit down with my Aunt and Uncle. I will keep you all posted.

Hey Patrick,
Cool idea. I'm a winemaker from down here in Santa Cruz, and I'd be totally into checking out your place.
(Oh yeah, and all of y'all's cars 'n such, too)
If you pull this off, I'll bring some goodies from down here. We can swap bottles...
Keep working on the date&time.
Mike

Mike,
Sounds good to me. Which winery in SC? On top of having our family owned winery, my dad is the winemaker at Blackstone...down in Gonzales, Jamie Meves. Maybe you two know each other or at least of each other. Who knows.

I'm at Roudon-Smith; one of the older and tinier wineries in these mountains.
I know of Blackstone, but I've never had a chance to get down there, or to meet any of the people down there.
Any chance that your dad will be around up in Novato for our meet? (I guess you couldn't know that untill we pick a date...) It's always fun to talk to other winemakers.
I'm sorry to hear about having to re-label the 2000 cab. Were the old labels glue & paper, or did you have to remove a bunch of "peel & stick" labels. Man what a pain...
How's this for a bad day: we bottled a Merlot last Friday, and what should have been half way through the bottling, suddenly theres no more wine...
a hose clamp was put on wrong on the line from the tank to the bottling line; it failed and about half of the wine (about 250 gallons!) went down the floor drain. And it was GOOD STUFF!
I was a somewhat unhappy camper.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this meet, if you can pull it off.
Later,
Mike

Mike,
Yeah, that hurts just hearing about it. Im sorry about that. And yes, the lables were glue and paper, and now we have had to switch to pressure sensitive, but of course, some of the colors in our label wouldnt work with the new pressure sensitive so we had to adjust our design mildly...no biggie actually, as it turns out, they look really good and the changes are basically not noticable. And as far as my dad being here, he might be, hes always running back and forth between our winery up here and Blackstone down in Gonzales. Ill see if he can work it out to be here that weekend, as he is the winemaker.
