Does the recoil happen all the time or only occasionally?
it jerks all the time in the following condition:
1. low speed, low rpm. (<1500rpm), in either 1st or 2nd gear
2. leg off the acceleration
3. foot on the acceleration , and jerking starts.

if I remove that fluid reservoir, will all the coolant come out of the tank? Are there any hose connecting to the reservoir ?

No I haven't really done to much. But could your idle air control valve cause such problems?because I believe mine is sticking and needs to be cleaned

driver side coils can be more easily reached either from under the car.

Or you could use a jack to push the motor up 1-2 inches (could use the oil pan as a jack point, highly recommend using something in between the pan and the jack like a 2x4 piece of wood). This gives the coils more clearance from the chassis frame and makes it easier to pull out.
