STEEL POLE BATHTUB

There's an obscure one for you- hard core punkers from the 80's, I just had dinner with their guitarist, an old friend of mine from high school....

Enigma
Drivin N Cryin
Hootie n the Blowfish (I went to school in South Carolina, friends of mine saw Hootie back in the days they were a cover band!)
The President of the United States of America
Sponge (best "smaller" live show I've ever seen, bar none : Austin TX, summer 1995)
They Might Be Giants
UB40

Someone mentioning Pixies above reminded me : I know they are a pretty good band and influential and all that. However the WORST live show I've ever seen was when the Pixies opened for U2 back in 1992 (early on the Achtung Baby tour, Charlotte NC). Absolutely zero crowd interaction whatsoever, and the crowd was NOT into it.

It might have been a matter of contrast with U2 which is probably the most "crowd interactive" band out there.

I saw them open on Lou Reed's New York tour probably a year or two earlier and thought they were a pretty great band, but to each his own....

I'm guessing they just were having a really "off" night more than anything else. Happens to even the best of bands

I saw The Pixies at Coachella and again in Berkely and they put on a great show both times. It was pretty sweet since I missed chances 10 years ago...

Wow, everyone covered so many and of course OwlBoogie continues as the musical encylopedia..

Hmm... Soundgarden? I was at their last show in Honolulu - it was weird. How about Alanis Morissette. MC EIHT.. Prodigy.. The Verve.. The Verve Pipe.. Stabbing Westward, NAS, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Soul Coughing, 311, Days Of The New, Tonic, Dishwalla. Super Furry Animals, Mauzner, Offspring, Miss Kittin, The Ethers, Semisonic, Black Lab, Evanescence, Toadies, Candlebox, I Mother Earth, *******, Godsmack, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Third Eye Blind, Cowboy Mouth, Harvey Danger, Republica, Elastica, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Collective Soul... Jeez, I gotta go to work.

And one of my all-time favourites... Temple of the Dog.

One of the brothers that were "Meat Puppets" is in jail in Arizona for shooting someone, I don't know the particulars but he is in deep ish...

A lot of the bands mentioned in this thread are actually touring right now as stated, Duran Duran, Pixies, Oasis, Dinosaur Jr and Slint.

Also, hi everyone, I live in Sacramento but work like a mile from BlackWRX in Vactown so I am kind of a "tweener".

Yeah I meant to say I work in Vacaville at City Hall, and I am pretty sure 02BlackWRX works down the street trading welfare / child support checks for cigarette / 40 oz money.
