OT: SUPER AWESOME Transmission Shop in SJ
I know this should be in the Tranny forum...but its strictly a post for the Greater Bay Area, and I just had to tell all the local people about it....
and they're called BTS Transmission Specialists,
American and Foreign Tranny service, repair/rebuild
http://www.btstransmissions.com/
As many of you know, I have a 95 Chevy Tahoe, that I use for some pretty heavy wheelin'.....(I'm going this weekend, I cant wait!)
Well anyways, I have been running the stock tranny...and it has held up exceptionally well, considering how its been used...But it recently had begun feeling a bit "sloppy," its an auto, but it decided to stop downshifting until the engine pretty much started bogging, or I floored it...plus, when shifting from Park to Reverse, or even to 3rd, the poor thing sounded as if it were about to fall out
, so I decided to take the plunge and have her looked at. Well to make a long story short, I ended up having the whole thing totally rebuilt, because either way, I was gonna upgrade it anyways, so now was as good a time as ever.
I had them put in:
Master Rebuild Kit with Band and Molded Pistons (High Energy Kit)
All Steels
All Bushings
All Thrust Washers
Low Roller
Input Sprag
Reprogramming Kit
EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) Solenoid
TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) Solenoid
1-2 & 2-3 First to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd Shift Solenoids
PSM Power Switch Manifold Solenoid
3-2 3rd to 2nd Downshift Solenoid
New yoyo Pump Ring kit
new pump stator shaft
HD Torque Converter
HD Hardened Shell
HD Hardened input drum
HD 5 pinion rear planetary gears
new drive shaft yoke
External Transmission Cooler
Stage 2 HD Shift Kit
They also provide a 12 month warranty on all parts and labor with every rebuild
They called me every day(took my truck in last friday got it back today *Weds*) to let me know where my parts were (they had to order all of the HD stuff), and the status of what they found, and overall progress.
They took me for a test drive as well before I left, when I picked up my truck. Plus they want me to bring it back after wheelin' this weekend to make sure everything is still sealed up and tight, then again after 1000 miles, and again just before my Warranty expires (month 11)
This thing is BADASS! it will chirp the 35's when it shifts into 2nd! Every gear shift is totally solid, and completely smooth, downshifting is just as good. I am totally blown away at how much of an improvement this was....I have never driven an automatic that literally felt "bullet proof." WOW
I wanna give HUGE PROPS to everyone, esp. Mike Talerico at BTS Transmission Specialists....you guys did an amazing job, and the best customer service I have EVAR experienced with an automotive shop, esp. a Transmission Shop. I will recommend your shop to any and all of my friends and family!
P.S. they hooked me up with some San Jose Giants AAA Baseball Tix too!
