OT: my truck has a lift kit... how to take it off
i'm not really one to ride high... i'm more the drop the biatch and go!
but the truck has a lift kit... it makes the car unstable driving at high speeds
any body had any experiences w/ lift kits?
and how to take the darn thing off?

it was a kit... "added between the the body and the frame"

dude...
what's the truck? what year? describe the lift...
<--- truck guy first, suby guy second...
oh some bad news. if it's a gm/.chevy truck with IFS and it has an IFS lift, portions of the frame/sub frame MAY have been cut off to make way for the lift.
if you have a toyota 4wd, you might be a better path to removing that lift.
if you have a jeep, just sell/swap the parts. i know a buch of jeep folks.
lemme know either way...
whoops, edit #2. didnt see the comment about the BODY lift.
racer's right. body lifts are the POOR man's lift. all they did was remove the bolts holding the body to the frame. then gently lift the body OFF the frame and then slide in the spacer. usually made of aluminum. some cheapskates even used to use hockey pucks.
that's gotta be some tall *** body lift. i'm curious about the vibrations though. generally, body lifts raises the body away from the frame. so drivetrain is not affected.
if you have a true suspension lift, the driveshaft u-joint could be in a severe bend and that could cause vibrations.
i would look into bent rim or out of balanced tires as the source of your vibration.

although the tacos did change front ends. went with a strut type coil overs on the 4wd versions.
good news is that the 2wd versions of the taco, well the prerunners, were essentially 4wd without a transfer case and a front axle/drivetrain.
i'll take for a spin and see what's up.

Well, if you can't find the installation instructions for a body lift online, make sure you identify all the changed parts before lowering the body and bed. You could really screw something up if you forget to remove a part.
From doing a body lift on a 2wd truck a while back- there will likely be:
2 or 3 inch spacers on the frame (body and bed)
a bracket to lower the radiator,
a fuel filler neck extension,
poss steering shaft adjust bracket
poss shifter extension
poss wiring harness extensions
brackets to raise the ft/rr bumpers
You probably want to get an oem schematic of the truck and will need to order some stock body mount bolts from the dealer.
have fun!!!
