Well, we have a cabin reserved in So. Lake Tahoe this Friday and Saturday for riding and gambling, but the weather reports are telling me that I might not even make it up there.

What should I do, should I risk driving up there Friday night and take the chance of having caltrans telling me to turn around?

Should I wait until Saturday morning to drive up?

What do you guys and gals think?

Well it's raining right now up there, but much later that rain will be heavy white-out snow.

Bring chains/cables just in case (even with awd), and some snacks and drinks in the car. You never know when cal-trans just says "lets close 50 & 80 for about 4 hours".

 

go up sat late afternoon but not too late or sunday. ur screwed pal. Lifts won't even be open, they are already closed today.

 

news reports say from 8am fri to 8am sat, EXPECT white out conditions driving up...

which means... stay home.

 

That's what I was hearing on the news. The news guy said "Flat out...don't go up before Saturday morning. Better off midday saturday. If you go on Friday, you'll be turned around."

 

Just got a phone call from a friend of mine who is a ski instructor up in the Tahoe area. He was meant to work from last Monday through this Saturday. He got sent home yesterday afternoon. Everything has been shut down until the storms have passed.
