Ordered MadDad whisper

Hi,
So I got pulled over a few weeks ago driving down Vanden between Vacaville and Fairfield by a sheriff for driving like a dumb ***. I had just finished my 6MT swap and was real eager to drive the car after having it down for 6 weeks, anyway he clocked me going way to fast. I lucked out that he gave me a professional courtesy and let me off. After the fact he mentioned that my exhaust (HKS hi power) really attracts attention as he could hear it from quite a ways away and left it at that, ever since I have been contemplating swapping it out for something quieter. Well tonight I emailed Daddy's (MadDad) to ask a few questions about the whisper system, I wrote that I needed to make sure that I could get the exhaust by next week as I have a tuning appointment on Friday and want it in place by then. Not 5 minutes after I sent the email, Rich from Daddy' SCP calls me up which was at 10pm his time (back east) and answered all my questions and I decided to order one. I know he is a vender and wants to sell something, but he didn't have to go out of his way to call tonight, thought that was pretty cool. Most everyone that I have read about has said that it performs well and is one of the quieter systems. Can't wait to get it on the car. Anyway, just thought I would share...

Derek

The only exhaust I'd take pertinent off for. I want to hear it really bad.

+1, Rich is a great person to talk to and he's very informative. I asked him questions about buying his products used -- yet he treated me as a normal customer. In the end, I purchased the Whisper catback from him. It was a combination of getting impatient with the classifieds and being impressed with his service.

A quick search for "MadDad" reveals that these exhausts don't go on sale frequently. Maybe it's because there aren't that many around, but I like to think it's cause people want to keep them.

I have a maddad header and up. The price was right, and later on I called him and asked if I could purchase a up-pipe on its own (being the 3 bolt up is on common on these style headers) to tie in a tial 44mm EWG. He said he doesn't normally sell them seperate, but happen to have a extra and sold it to me for a great price too. They are great.

Mine was actually supposed to be here on Wednesday, somehow it did not get picked up in Anaheim by UPS, it got rescheduled for delivery tomorrow, had it shipped to my work address, (City of Vacaville) but I forgot that all of our admin personnel are on furlough tomorrow so I won't get it till Monday. I had to reschedule my tuning session with EQ till next week, they were understanding. Wish I could have afforded to get the catted down pipe with it, but still am excited for its arrival.

yeah, other than the prodrive (which is 2.5") i've always loved the sound of the mad dad whisper (which is 3"). never owned one, but will jump on it if its in the classifieds. I also love that mid pipe they sell, the one that tapers from 3" to 2.5", so that you can run a stock-ish muffler - or prodrive - and mate it to any 3" aftermarket downpipe. best stealthback setup imho. think helix catless to mid pipe to sti muffler. now that is super quiet and frees up a lot of the restrictions, all for under $500.

I have the mad dad whisper back... its great. Even w/ no cats its quiet enough at idle and cruising, but @ WOT its still the hotness. If you want to come to Sunnyvale/San Jose I'd be willing to go for a quick on the expressway so u can get a better feel for it as long as i'm available... but like I said, I have no cats.

I was able to get UPS to pull my exhaust off the truck and they let me pick it up tonight in Cordelia. I just put it on and took it for a ride, I love the sound that it makes. It is completely different sounding, not obnoxious, but still gives the boxer motor sound when getting on the go pedal. I like the single tip, looks closer to stock than my HKS did. Can't wait to get my car tuned next week!

That's a great cat-back! I'm glad you're enjoying the sound levels. We'll see you next Friday to get everything dialed in

Really looking forward to it! Sorry I had to reschedule, Brendon recommended tuning the car with the exhaust I am going to run. Wish it would have come in one day earlier...

I'm attracted to the idea of a quiet(ish) exhaust available in 3". Does anyone here have first hand experience with both the whisper, and the cobb catback? If so i'd love some comparison.

I've heard both, but never side by side so I can't compare them fairly. Plus the setups were different. My (subjective) hearing tells me that the Whisper is a bit quieter. Suffice to say, I liked the Cobb and Borla Hush too -- keeping quiet while maintaining the rumble was my goal!

I also wanted to keep the single tip; no Borla Hush! Cobb would have required an adapter since my DP is flat flanged.

FYI, I'm still running one high flow cat.
