online ordering
alright.....wanted to order some okada plasma direct coil packs and thought i would order it online with one i haven't dealt with before.
so i placed the order and paid via credit card online.
next day, i get an email that the item is not in stock and won't be in stock till at least end of february or march.
i kindly request that the order be cancelled since the item is not in stock and would take a minimum of one month before it's delivered.
got an email this morning and he stated that he will need to charge me 5% for transaction fees....
this for real or bull****?

Don't bother asking for a refund, go directly to your credit card and have them do a charge back. It is THEIR fault they don't have it in stock when they said they did, and they can't charge you for a transaction that didn't happen. Taking the order "reserves" the funds on your card, but they typically cannot actually charge you until they ship the item as Lowend said.

Go check their site for their policy on something like this. If it explicitly sates they can do this, then it will be harder to fight them. If it does not (meaning your exact situation), then they can't do it.

What website was this?
This is basically a scam. Make a website with every part ever available, and then take 5% off everyone who places an order for parts that you never had in the first place. Works great if you undercut the best legitimate price on the market by a few percent so you get all those who are trying really hard to save a few bucks at the expense of dealing with an unknown vendor.

A sites policy isn't necessarily legally binding even if it states the exact situation.

That's also why going to your card is probably the best way; they may argue with you, but the probably don't want to argue with your card company.

looks like quite a few places didn't have it in stock or is $150 more than other sites....so i went with this one.....
will fight this for sure regardless......
That's why I said it might be more difficult to fight, not that the OP is screwed. It would depend on a lot of things, but could complicate the matter.

That's iffy and will make it harder then because they said they had it in stock when they didn't. A good shop should work with you on that.
