I don't think Myspace in itself is gay (not too much, anyways), but the way some people use it is. It's become more of a popularity contest. I have an account, but it's blank, I only use it if my friends (in real life, not on teh interweb) want me to check out their page. I choose not to use it too much, I've seen first hand how many wasted hours people put into it, but then again, I seem to put alot of time into sites like i-club. Eh, to each their own I guess.

I like the thought of the many stupid "jackass generation" kids not getting hired cuz of something stupid they have done or posted.

Right, if that was to happen, and it has in the past. Check out www.bruinpied.com

However your response leads me to believe that you have not used myspace at all, and therefore do not know that you can make your myspace personal page private. As for the less-popular website facebook.com, it is by default, private the moment you sign up for it and you cannot access a person's personal info they have listed on the website unless you are linked to them as a friend.

I personally think myspace is a great marketing/networking tool that turned quite successful, hence the advertisement funding that has been spent to promote this website even more, because economically it seems worth it to companies advertising myspace.

I would like to let the record show that I joined myspace just before it was the biggest scene kid thing to do

I'm tempted to delete my account just because I dont want to be connected with the pop-culture scene crap that promotes shallowness and perpetuates high school drama

the fact that you are so adamantly defending a friend/chat website just shows how successful myspace is. if it is just another dumb website to communicate with friends, then who cares what anyone else thinks. and i also think its gay because of how people use it, and how much time they spend on it. i will concede that independent artists and performers have made a good name for themselves through myspace, so its not entirely useless.

and y'know... they do make other methods for person to person communication. one is called a phone, and the other thing is this new technology we have called e-mail. e means electronic. cool huh.

Some crazy stuff does happen on there though.. its pretty retarded.

Hear about the woman who tried to have a girl killed because her boyfriends picture was on her myspace?
