it's a pretty popular swap. 4 cars ago(pre kid and wife) I had and 83 280zx T swapped with a ZZ4 crate, turbo 350(started out with a C4 vette 6 speed, but it was a ***** to drive that light of a car with that much power and a stick), and a twin screw whipple(she put about 500hp to the ground) and it ran like a bat out of hell. You can pick up the motor and tranny adapters for about $300 then all you need is a motor, EMS, tranny and a whole lot of time. If you get a cheap motor and tranny you can do the whole swap for under $3k and be running 12s all day long, add a supercharger and say hello to low 10s.

My buddy had a 240Z with a pumped and stroked Ford 302 in it. The previous owner said it ran 10 second 1/4 miles. And when I took a ride in it, I believed it. I was so scared that I put my feet up on the dash in fear that we were going to die. Still the fastest car I have ever ridden in.
