Say John Doe enlists for 4 years active duty in the military and gets out in january of 2004 and never wears a uniform again for the rest of his life.

What John Doe and a lot of you didn't know was that he the day he signed his life away at MEPS he also signed an Inactive Reserve contract too. That means he is unknowingly (or knowingly) serving another 4 years of inactive reserve just in case sh*t hit the fan!

Why send a bunch of unmotivated 18 year olds without a lick of training when they could send in the 22yr old with 4 years under his belt that already has $100,000.00 of training invested in him!?

If you served 3 years active duty or active reserve then you'd have 5 years inactive reserve....5 years active, 3 years inactive reserve. Just subtract 8 years from your initial enlistment contract and presto!

So... Uncle Sam would re-enlist those like myself on inactive reserve as a LAST RESORT after already sending the actual reserves. So if they send the reserves in your area DON'T PANIC because you still have a lot of breathing room. When USASOC gives me a call and says they need me again after they've already exhausted all the Reserve regular Units and Special OPs units then i'll let you know If/When that happens i suggest you either enlist airforce reserve and get a easy desk job, close shop and move to South America or grab your ***** and grab an M4.

That's exacly what happened in Vietnam! Those that didn't want to get shot at enlisted for a "kick-back' job. Hell, my uncle did this back in the day too.

ERIC

Well it happened today but i've yet to totally confirm it. The word on the streets is that i've been bumped from Inactive reserves to Active Reserves OR Active duty.

My mother called me today saying "did a SPC. ******* call you yet... i thought he was your friend" because her phone # is on my military records seeing how i joined at 17.

Turned out he asked her if i recieved a letter of reinstatement which he assured was in the mail confirming my duty status.

Good thing i've started running again within the past week to de-fatass for my wedding.

I reccomend everyone flee to Canada asap because the DRAFT IS COMING!!1!11!!1111one!!

-Eric

BTW this isn't a joke in the slightest... im still soaking it all in as we speak.

and that is exactly why I didn't inlist in the first place.

I hope they don't try sending you over seas. That would suck.

Some of my friends are on edge right now as well. One of them got back last year. They extended him 6 months over his original date. He's pretty much on the top of the list to be pulled back in since it was so recent. Sucks.

Hopefully with your wedding coming up and what not they won't pull you.

I already left for Canada. They'll have to personally drag my kicking, screaming, wimpy flat-footed 135 lb *** back to the States if they want me to do anything!

Then again after seeing the rather lavish privileges our military men and women enjoy in Japan (taco bell and unfairly low costs on everything, especially car registration, transport and shipping!)... it makes me wonder ...

LOL. i just tried to put my BDU's back on but they're a size too small! **** me this sucks.... can you say atkins and extreme running?

My Gutted desert boots, other boots and PC still fit though.

Still waiting on an Orders letter from Uncle Sam himself.

Edit: still no 100% word if this is legitimate or not. I'm trying to get ahold of a recruiting buddy of mine in Tracy i served with to verify.

If i have to go then so be it! If i had to go back in then i would without a doubt but it would put a real damper on my business (self-employed), family and upcoming marriage... just really **** **** up right now, you know?
