correct me if I'm wrong, but the first IMPREZA rally car was the 555. Wasn't that the same chassis as the GC8?

quoted from article

"new hatchback body style to go along with the standard sedan"

that means they will still carry the sedan. the hatch is just another option.

Ya.. I'm gonna hold my opinion for the better part of another year till I get a look at the STi model. Though I still love the new hatch look far more than the present snount nose, I have a feeling there is potential for the grill on the STi hatch to be wicked sick.

On a side note, if you work for LIC FTW apparently stands for **** the world. :P

I think it's going to be like the tribeca...I HATED it when it came out. Ugliest damn thing. But the look grows on you and then you see one like the one PERRIN build and you're like..hmmm. not to bad. Then you sit in one and you realize that inside it's on another level you kinda forgive the ugly factor.

I'm pissed they tossed the wagon but the fact that they offer a "hatchback" and it's on the same platform as the sedan means that the STI hatch is a possibility and that makes me happy. I think in stock form the car is hideous but with a few changes I could see how it would look decent. We'll see. I heard from someone that's seen photos of one that was modified or is not in the "stock" form that it's hot so we'll see. I'll probably be in the market for a new car next year for the wife.

the wagon was built on a slightly different platform...narrower in the front. The hatch will be built on the SAME platform. Really the only difference. It's a bit shorter apparently than the current model.

So really it's a way for them to save some dough and make it a more user friendly name...hatch is much more acceptable to some buyers than wagon...me...I like wagon.

the good thing is that with the same platform it means parts will be more transferable and probably cheaper as several sizes won't have to be made to be WAGON specific.

I'll keep my wagon. But I wouldn't mind an sti hatch..haa.

Most likely the same 5mt and gearing, 3.7" increased wheel base (s-turn much?), no fender flares, "mom and dad friendly" front end, no aluminum hood(?), still rocks the RE92s, 2 pot sliding callipers, chrome tail lights, Dodge Ram size hood scoop, taller roof line....

Will new gen chasis mesh with old gen drive train? We'll see.

Attacking the MS3 with the same body and less power?

Here's a paradox for you: double wishbone suspension with 6.5" wide RE92 tires???
