Oh Subaru how far you've fallen...

8 sneaky-fast cars that won't punish you at the pump - Yahoo! Autos

Didn't even make a list of sneaky fast cars that included and SUV! WTF...

I guess the 10 year old HP numbers are... well... old.

I think if you read the intro it may rule out the Subaru as being "too flashy" which is entirely subjective so I am not sure it has as much to do with "only" 305 hp...

I was thinking the same thing. Some of the cars listed are in the 8 second range, too.

These articles are never neutral and unbiased.

Those companies probably paid a lot of money to even have their car tested for this article, and then Subaru was like "Hey guis, we don't need this! We already know who rules the roost!".

That's the kicker right there.

I was being sarcastic. But I suppose you wouldn't know that about me.

Subaru is making great cars as the usual. I don't necessarily like the direction of the STI in recent years but it's still a great car.

And I do think they've sat on their hands for too long and the powerplant needs improvement. You can't make the same car for 15 years and think it won't eventually catch up to you.

The new WRX and STI are both too flashy for the article.

Here was the sarcasm... they ruled out the WRX/STI because they're not sneaky anymore.

What about the forester? The XT and 2.5i are both faster than the CRV and both just as sleeper.

What about the Crosstrek? It's faster than the CRV too. Though it really is slow for what it is. LOL!

The impreza/crosstrek are both really slow. Not really what subaru is doing with those 2 cars right now. There's really no reason for them to perform as poorly as they do. Lack of power doesn't necessarily mean better MPG.

It's due for it.

They've essentially had the same output since it came out and some folks would say the new ones are actually MUCH lower on the HP than the older ones when you stick them on a dyno. So it's actually gone backwards.

The cars have gotten heavier and more full of crap.

I'd like to see them do something where you can get a WRX or STI in 2 or 3 ways.

WRX Base model. Just what it is. Has the most common options. Etc.
WRX Sport. Comes with less of the creature stuff but maybe different wheels and seats and what not.
WRX Limited. Has all the options and creature comforts. Leather. Heated. Etc.

Same for the STI.

STI Sport. I'd like to see a stripped down no frills option. Go back to no stereo. Screw GPS. Put some bad *** seats in there and some nice wheels. Maybe even a slightly higher HP number. Bump that one up to 375.

Regular STI and STI limited both get lower numbers. Like and honest 330. One gets the full boat of crap like the current one. The other gets just the basics but has the brembos and all that jazz.... like the 04 models.

If they came out with an STI that was stripped down and came with more power I'd consider it. I don't want factor GPS and all that extra crap. I want light and fast.
