No kidding here - not the eyes, but if you use a white hand towel soaked in bleach it will burn off the Poison Oak. It is a little painful, but it's not as uncomfortable as PO.

dude, I feel your pain.....I have had Poison oak more times that I care to count.....and yea, it SUX....but the worst part is...it itches soooo friggin bad....BUT if you itch it.....it will spread! talk about a Catch 22...... Go buy some Calimine (sp?) lotion, and put it on the affected area....that will help soothe it and help it to heal faster.....also you can get some anti-Itch medication (I had some called "Jacks Itchin' Remedy", specifically for Poison Oak) that works wonders I tell you! Both can be purchased at any Longs, Wal-Mart, Walgreens or any other drug store like that.

Ted. I've got so much PO stuff. 2 kinds of medicated creme's..using one right now. Doesn't help with the itching but it kills the PO. stuff is dangerous though...especially around the eyes. And I have technu and stuff like that at home. Sprays. I see the stuff..walk within 50 feet of it..I get it. In highschool I missed a bunch of school cause it covered my entire body. Both eyes swoll shut. My ears swoll shut. I looked like a freak. Took me around 3 weeks to beat it with several shots.
Antioch. Dude......I've done the bleech, rubbing alchol, you name it.... Trouble is...as of right now I have it on my eyes...and the other worse place to get it...if you catch my drift. Not my favorite place to be putting bleach. haaaa.a
But I see some popping up on my arm...that'll be getting the bleach treatment tonight.

I tried that and it did not work for me at all. It made it way more irritated. Not to mention it left my arms bleached white in spots.

You can't spread poison oak. The irritation is caused by the plants oil, and once you wash that off it can't possible be spread or transmitted to another person. The stuff that oozes out of the irritated spot cannot cause a rash or itching, it's just nasty. If it looks like it's spreading or it pops up in a new spot, it was probably exposed to the plant and you didn't realize it...or the oil is on an animal or clothing that you reinfect yourself with.

for me what did the best.....hot hot towel. Followed by rubbing alcohol...haaa. I was desperate. When it covers literally every piece of skin you have you tend to try everything.
Aveno has some great stuff too..they have this spray..burns like hell but works good. I sprayed my face when I first saw the oak. Felt like I poored acid on my face but it felt better and it didn't start swelling again until about an hour ago. I've aged like 20 years in the last hour....

OHhhhh...dang. You let the woman drive. You must have been worked over.
If you're around tonight drop me a line. I'll be kicking back at the house. Probably pop my fog covers in and maybe dremel my doors.....oh...I got a dremel... you could do your din cover dealy anytime you want to borrow it. or come by tonight and do it.
I might be going over to Jeff's soon to clear out my headlights and if he/you are willing..rip out my interior and run new power wire and install a new battery..my car has died on me 3 times in the last few days. Battery is toast.

I live on ten acres...and most of it was covered in PO.
Every year, I go out thin it out; cut it down, spray Round Up and other herbicides.
And every year, I get PO-induced itchies about 8 times.
Tecnu does seem to help me, but I gotta use it very soon after exposure.
Zanfil(sp) is another product that I've used...but it's about $30 for a "toothpaste sample size" tube.
DO NOT USE BLEACH near your eyes for obvious reasons.
There are PO barrier creams available, but they didn't work for me.
