Already mentioned it, but I hope it happens, whiteside is a backup catcher not a starter imo

I'm not as concerned with Belt stepping up as I am with Whiteside and/or Chris Stewart stepping up. *fingers crossed*

I say groom belt for outfield position (to take over for burrel/schierholtz/rowand) or interchange infield player like burriss and have buster go to first to eventually replace huff..

Won't have to worry about molina stepping up as he has proven he's a season long catcher, not a backup trying to fill in

I completely agree with the last 5-6 posts. I would love to see Bengie behind the dish again but I think that may be a longshot. Bengie pretty much molded our starting 3 and know their styles and tendencies. Posey isnt the fastest catcher but he for sure has one up (maybe 2-3 up) on Molina when it comes to baserunning. Being that our offense is slumping and we basically have won multiple games because of speed on the pads, I think speed should be considered. We all know Bengie struggles in this area. No one really knows what Bengie has been doing in the off season and season while he hasnt been signed. Who knows how his conditioning is. All I know is that we need a catcher. Just like a few of you said, Whiteside is a backup catcher, I dont see him as an everyday starter. But until Sabean makes a move, im hoping for the best.

The thing about Whiteside is that he has the respect of the entire pitching staff. Some outsider coming in to this rotation isn't going to have the same level of respect. I don't like the Molina thing because as the previous poster noted, he's slow. The last thing we need is another slow body that is that much more out of shape having not been playing the first part of the year. I'm not sure what they're going to do, but I'm glad we have Whiteside in there for now.

yeah whiteside isnt going to mess up at catcher, he's solid, but i think bengies power at bat and his consistency outweighs his speed, doesnt matter how fast people are if no one can get hits

Bengie's power at bat is probably still intact, but he may have a bit of rust from not training/playing recently that could inhibit his consistency. Again, this could be wasted words/discussion as they'll more than likely head a different direction with the catcher position.

Seriously what a way to bring the spirits back up..crawford wouldn't even have been on the team if posey didn't get hurt, talk about taking advantage of the situation, I like his batting too, solid hitter you can tell

Inside the park home run, how awesome Man, Huff needs to give some effort on defense...not saying he would've gotten it, but at the very least, try and dive for the ball.

I think Ross had more to do with the home run than Huff. Oh wellz. We'll get 'em tomorrow with big daddy Cain on the mound.
