Fo sho. Ill PM you a code. Try using it when you can.

OldGregg 01-12-2017 08:38 PM

I have an s6 due for an upgrade. Think I'll wait for the s8. Yay, nay?

stupidchicken03 04-19-2017 01:42 PM

Might be switching over to T-mobile.

I have zero complaints about Google Fi other than data. Its can be a super cheap bill if you dont use data. I have gotten REALLY good about not using data, almost to a point where Ive become obsessed about it :lol: I wouldnt mind being back on unlimited not having to worry about it.

I dont think I would use ANYWHERE near what I was when I was with Vz years ago. Currently Tmo has the new(er) One plan. 2 lines unlimited talk/txt/data (first 30 GB are LTE and 3G after 30) for $100 a month with tax/fees included.

If it works out, my brother and his wife might drop Vz and hop on our family plan. With 4 lines it breaks down for $40 per line for a total of $160 a month (awesome considering I was paying $118 a month for unlimited VZ years ago).

Ive gotten answers to just about everything Ive thought of online, but might roll in there tonight to talk to an employee to sure things up.

My S8 is out for delivery today :)

ALL of the "unlimited" plans are indeed limited. After some preset amount of data they throttle you down to 3G, some are lower some are higher before that happens. So it is unlimited, but not all at 4G.

stupidchicken03 04-20-2017 07:15 AM

Yea I know.

I remember years ago tho all my friends with ATT unlim, after 3 or 4 GB they were throttled to almost unusable speeds. Just ridiculous.

When I was with VZ, it was truly unlimited... like over 350 GB a month unlimited  But I just couldnt justify the cost anymore, and within a year of me leaving, VZ upped anyone off contract with unlim another $20 a month..

yeah, I switched to a family plan and I get a 17% discount through work too. I don't have unlimited anymore but it is plenty of data with carry over data and never gets throttled.

S8 is pretty nice so far....

It is a little weird with the no hard button anymore, but ironically the older ones didn't have it either (S2, S3, S4). You have to press a little harder where the button used to be or use the power button to wake it up. It is closer to the Edge models than the previous flat 7, though it is not as unprotected as an Edge. Seems to be noticeably faster than the S7, but otherwise after the S7 got the Nougat update it operates pretty much the same. 64GB out of the box is nice, I added 128GB SD to it. Screen is even nicer than the S7 and is a decent chunk larger due to the design, while it isn't too much larger in your hand. I really liked my S7 and I do actually prefer this one, where from the 6 to the 7 there wasn't as much difference.

stupidchicken03 04-21-2017 06:39 AM

Yea has a lot less bezel and just more screen on the face of the phone.

One thing I saw was that since they did that, the screen ratio is kinda weird. Where apps like youtube might not fill up the whole screen, or cut things off.

Not having a physical button does take a little getting used to, but its not bad, and once you're used to it there is no issue what so ever.

Also did make the switch to T-mobile yesterday.

Couple speed tests. One from inside my house with wifi off obviously (first attachment) and the other at our local meet last night (second attachment).

Im happy so far.

There is a "fit" function like TVs when watching video that gives you fill, fit, or original size for video to make full use of the screen without cropping the video.

What did you do for phones?

stupidchicken03 04-21-2017 12:18 PM

Brought em with us.

The pixel is an unlocked phone from Google so its good an any carrier.

She brought her iPhone with her.

Zero charges for it. The ONLY thing we paid for yesterday, 1 new Tmo sim card each. $25 each, came out to $53.XX after tax. Zero contract, leave whenever if we like.

They also said something about if you still owe on your phone with another carrier, they will "pay you out" of it. AKA give you a Visa gift card for the amount you owe. Could use it to pay off the phone or buy whatever.
