To be fair, you can't compare new ZIIs to used StarSpecs.

After reviewing the footage. You can see the Star Specs pulling ahead in the corners. But then the ZII catches up in the straights.

You drove better with the 205's, braking early and setting up the corner up with better corner exit and you had better lines in some critical parts.

These are what I've always considered/thought were R-Comps. I cannot run these in T2 since they are not considered street tires.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...del=ADVAN+A048

The Hoosier A6s for example are what I would have called a "slick"

From what I now know, the A048 would be a Semi R-Comp, the A6 would be an R-Comp, and something like an Avon would be a slick.

CONFUSING.

You may just need to adjust your way of driving with the wider tires.

Wow a ton of information here, i think i need to think about new tires on my car and adjusting my 27/24 sway setup. IM running dws 225x50x17 lol think i have too much side wall. As for my sway setup ive gotten recommendations to set the front at softest and the rear at the hardest setting.

The car felt really weird on sunday, heavy on the understeer and the rear end seemed to float kinda. So i think i need to stiffen up the rear. my times were pretty bad too lol

You have 27 in front and 24 in the rear? That front bar is huge.

Typically for most Subarus (some will argue about the new GR/GH chassis) you want a larger rear sway bar and a smaller front. This will help eliminate the awful understeer that Subarus are known for.

I for example am running a 22mm front and 24 rear on my STI which helped tighten that back end up a ton and eliminated a bunch of understeer.

On my Forester I am running an 18mm front and 22mm rear and it made worlds of difference.

I see what you're saying. TireRack has broken them up into more categories. they have, "Dry Racetrack & Autocross Only" and "Streetable Track & Competition". They're all R-comps. I consider the dry track tires are slicks and the streetable tires as semi-slicks.

But even the slicks still have two grooves on them.

Also a possibility. I seemed pretty consistent on them. I guess I was just consistently terrible.

You need to swap that around. You need a thicker bar in the back to dial out understeer.

Yup

Don't forget that you are comparing two different compounds at different points in their life cycle.
