NEW YORK (Reuters) - An owner of a New York store thwarted a robbery only to take pity on the perpetrator, who claimed he could not feed his family, and gave the man $40 and a loaf of bread, a video of the incident showed.
A video posted on Tuesday by the Newsday newspaper on its website www.newsday.com showed a masked man wielding a bat as he entered a convenience store in Shirley, Long Island, just after midnight on May 21 and demanded money.
But when the store's owner, identified by the local Channel 12 TV station as Mohammad Sohail, pulled out a rifle, the masked man dropped to his knees and appeared to beg for forgiveness.
"He said 'I am sorry, I have no money, no job, my family is hungry,'" Sohail told the TV station. "Then I feel bad for him ... I take $40 for him."
Sohail said he was not planning to press charges.

I have no heart with someone trying to rob me. If you do bad to someone you only get bad done to you. Maybe if he went inside and begged and he gave him 40 bux and a loaf of bread then ok. But if some guy came at me with a bat, I wouldn't understand why I'd give him 40 bux. I'd say I hope your family starves for your stupid actions and while you rot in jail, they'll die from starvation. Hence justice served.
After being mugged, I could give a rats *** about anyone trying to get money by robbing others. I would have shot the guy in the groin and hoped he'd be screwed for life when it has anything to do with sex.

Aw boo hoo! Poor robber guy and his dramatics. The store owner should have just shot him in the face and put him out of his misery.
Yeah, I'm gonna have to lean to the side that hopes this doesn't end up in a "nice guys finish last" kinda situation down the line. These days, no good act goes unpunished.

maybe though that guy was robbing to feed his family, maybe he never did anything liek that before and it was out of pure desperation.
what if that **** turned the guy around, having a rifle pointed at your face might make you think about some **** pretty hard.
