Is this normal for the DCCD?

Had a dealership "evaluate" my trade in and without letting me know, took my car for a test drive.

I believe he was playing around with the DCCD, is that a normal noise??? I never mess around with the DCCD other than in Auto [-].

Went in Sunday afternoon and did not check the video until I got home today after work

I know there's noises associated with the DCCD in manual mode, but I didn't think it sounded like this

IMHO See what they offer you and keep the video as an ace up your sleeve. If they drove it far enough with it in full lock I'd say they're hooking you up with either a fat discount on a new or buying you a repair from your local trusted Subaru shop.

He went around the block, its really no big deal. He had DCCD in lock for less than 3 seconds, in the video he said he wanted to make sure it worked. They didn't beat on the car or do any damage to anything by locking the center dif.

If he locked the front diff that can damage your car on pavement, not meant for pavement.

^Yep, not suggested on dry pavement. I've seen OP's full video on the youtube channel. That said, here's the catch..

..the onus to prove you didn't lock it beforehand is on you. That said, if they're trying to "check it" they should have enough knowledge to know it's ok for such a short spin.

Like I posted above, the video has 'em saying "Quality" so there ya go. Pull on the hook and sellout and get yer Acura.

I'm unsure if there's any serious damage, since I believe he turned the DCCD to manual then switched it from full lock to full open for about 5 seconds in the video...

When I turned the car back on, went into auto mode as usual and when I clicked over to manual and it was set to fully open.

Sad part was looking to replace the STI with TL SH-AWD, but the car was overall disappointing. So sorry guys, looks like I'm still going to be on here for a while

I'm telling you there was no damage done. No question about it.

For what it's worth, I love my 06 RL with SH-AWD. It's like a luxo-barge trying to be an sti, N/A 300hp and 4000lbs is still pretty fun to drive but the 1/2 second delay in shifts takes getting used to.
