Hell I'd go....I am there almost every weekend anyway...
It has a nice long parking lot, and BBQ's with tables...
Other than that there isnt much in Avila. San Luis Bay in is on the hill...hence the resort in the original post.
It's another 10 minutes to Pismo, which is where you are allowed to drive on the beach and in the dunes. Camping is also allowed on the beach/dunes...to get to the camp area you have to go through about 6" of water on a low tide...I see many sedans out there so the subies shouldn't have much problem. Hell I have done it in a 35' RV...so its not too bad. - I think it's like $6.00 to camp for the night per car and there is about 10 miles of open beach to camp on.
The drive to SLO/Avila takes me an average of 3 hours every other weekend. SLO is 212 miles so avila beach is 223 miles by way of 101.
So if there are enough people going I would show up...otherwise I'll let all the "other" cars be there....lol
