I enjoyed NFS:U and NFS:U2 but I am just not feeling this one at all. I've won every race I've entered (10-15) with at least a 10 second lead. And I just beat a modified Golf GTI several times in my stock Fiat. The acting and story is painful but I was expecting that and the car selection blows (imho) until you reach high levels. And something about the fact you can now just select the races without having to drive to them really takes the fun of exploration out of the game.
Maybe I need to give it another shot but my initial reaction was very disappointing. The worst part, I forgot I paid the extra $10 for the black version (or whatever it's called). Can I get my $60 back?

Make up your mind..haha. Is it a good game or no? Is it worth even renting? I've stopped by several Blockbusters today and nobody seems to have it in stock.
I was pretty excited about it because they put cops back in but when it came out last week I didnt get it. Just seems gay. Lots of riced **** and the car list kind of sucks. Huck whats so good about it all of a sudden?

The acting is still awful (although Mia's voice acting aint half bad), the cars are still some of the nastiest species of rice I have ever seen, and the storyline is pure fantasy, but...
It got more challenging after the 2nd or 3rd guy on the black list. The police chases become a lot more intense as you progress. You have to build tactics to avoid them and/or shake them. It's an entirely new and fun development to the game (especially since I have a 6 year old and 10 year old playing along with me that love to ram into cars/buildings and blow stuff up). You have to swap cars to lose heat which adds a lot of variety. No longer can I make my "perfect" car and use it for every mission until you win/buy the next best car. It's an entirely different game from the Underground series.
And the details grew on me. The backgrounds are gorgeous, leaves blowing by, the little dust clouds in the forest, the distortion of sounds as you drive over metal bridges, the blinding sunlight as you come out of tunnels.... I'm pretty impressed actually.
And no longer do I have that lame "rice" rating that was in the previous games. I can build a sleeper if I want and still progress through the game. That appeals to the deisgner in me. I hated having to rice out my shiz to get to the next level.
I really have changed my view of the game over night. Can't say that's ever happened before.

So in other words...by the time you had posted up about this game and gave it a negative review, you hadn't even got through the opening movie? Lol.
I think I'll still rent it.

What's the difference between the Black Edition and the regular edition, besides an extra 10-15 bucks? I'm sure it has more features, but what type? Is it worth it?
