Ok, you want some anime, here some for the genre's.

Now all the anime i'm listing rose the standard in terms of animation and/or story. After watching these, everything else just seems ordinary.

for the Samurai junkies:

Rurouni Kenshin. (Cartoon Network's watered down version is the suck!)
Overall, good story for the series, so so animation. Even has a pretty decent movie, but there is a 6-part OAV that has superb animation. After you see the sword fighting in the OAV, everything else is just garbage.(and that includes ninja scroll)

for the Ninja fanatics:

Ninja Scroll is classic that i recommend.

Naruto if you want a series. But i warn you to be patient with this one. Theres alot of depth and it takes a while with the setup and execution of the plot twists and story.

for the Mech addicts:

For classics, Macross summer 84.

Also recomend Macross Plus and Macross Zero. Ace Combat has nothing on the high flying action in these two OAVs.

Evangelion: The religious references in the story add some controversy, but what doesn't these days? The Eva's are just along for the ride. (And the creator of the series had a nice little message to the hardcore otaku's. "Get a life!!!")

for the Cyberpunks:

theres a bunch here.

Ghost in the Shell, both movies, along with GITS: Stand Alone Complex. (Remember that Cartoon Network sucks, so watch the dvd's or dl the fansubs)

Appleseed 2004: Just saw the movie, and i think it was very well made. On a side note, this is suppose to be a trilogy so prepare for some high budget animation films in the next 5 years.

Cowboy Bebop: This is just a classic for both the series and the movie. Theres alot of storyline depth, and character development like no other. Especially pay attention to the pop culture references. Even seeing Spike Spiegal fight is like watching the late great Bruce Lee in action. All around, great action, story, depelopment, and a soundtrack by the great Yoko Kanno. My personal fav.

Bought the DVD last weekend in J-town. Its a great movie. Reading the manga really helps you to make sense of what is going on though...

Yea, but I have a feeling what I bought is just a bootleg. The subs are horrible; same names are spelled 2 different ways consistantly, incorrectly named people and objects, etc. Oh yea not to mention they dont include some of what characters are saying in the subs First watch was confusing. I read the manga up to Volume 2:Chapter 7 and then watched the movie again tonight. Having read the manga helped a lot to figure out what the hell was going on half the time and there are a lot of things people will miss if they havent read the manga.

just got back from watching appleseed @ amc saratoga 14. it was pretty cool. too many anime dorks kept clapping during "climatic" scenes. LOL

it had some cheesy moments as well but overall it was entertaining.

Samurai Deeper Kyo is pretty tight.

I'm in the middle of the 2nd season of Ghost in the shell: Stand Alone Complex. It's a a pretty interesting mix of politics and action.

Hellsing- great vampire series.

Trigun- Hilarious, plus some action

Macross Zero- 4-6 long OVAs come out like once every 6-8months, it's kept me pretty interested. I think it's a prequel to the other Macross stuff, like Macross Plus.

Ninja Scroll TV Series- pretty good stuff, based on the character from Ninja Scroll.

I found a little shop in LA yesterday selling an all region Appleseed DVD for $18.

Amazing movie. I cant wait to watch it again! They nailed his style. Choreography, details all way above my expectations. Simply beautiful.
