I also see that Palo alto has the chargers now not just EPA also stanford sheriffs have the chargers now. First thing i thought was yep way to blow the money now.

The Charger is lighter, safer, has stability control, and better fuel economy via multi-displacement engine technology and a 5-speed transmission (as opposed to the Crown Vic's 4-speed). The Ford police package runs $35,445 while the Dodge Charger Police package is $30,480. (All taken from Motor Trends comparison of the Charger, Impala, and Crown Vic).
Wanna re-think your "blow our money" comment?
I know for the NYPD, the cars are retired 5 years after their first day of service. If the Crown Vics were first used in 1997 (that year is also from Motor Trend) I'm not surprised that Palo Alto is due for some new cruisers. What a shame they went with the less expensive, safer, and cheaper to operate choice.

yeah it maybe more efficient on gas i am just shocked they are buying new cars atm when the city is so broke so no i am not gonna rethink it. It still cost a lot of money to buy up a bunch of cars. In the long run yeah it saves money but in the moment thats a lot of money going out when they say they are broke.
