Hot damn, I'm also interested in a new phone too and I'm also in the same market as DarkAngel. Except I want a Nokia with a color screen and midi ringtones that's not the 3595 (maybe the Nokia 6200?). Nothing uber expensive or fancy. If I can get a Sony Ericsson T616 or any other reasonably price Bluetooth phone for a pretty good deal, that would be awesome. I just wanna use the Bluetooth stuff with my Mac. I have the T226 right now and that thing friggin' sucks. My price range is under $100 if that's possible. Thanks!

How's the Siemens S56? Those happen to have Bluetooth and I visited the Siemens site to see what features they had and I like 'em. I had a Siemens S40 before and those were absolute crap (firmware crashes, locked up, couldn't power down, took out the battery, put it back in, tried to power up, phone dead). If their new phones are good, I'll give 'em another try, otherwise I'll stick with Nokias. Thanks for your help!
I do live a in the east bay and driving to SF is kind of a pain, but I'll stop by anyway when I have some time during a weekend if I have to take BART and a bus there. Hehe. PM me if you can give me a few prices on some phones I might be interested in if you have time. =)

I don't think you'll be able to get a phone and service without a contract. If you don't buy the contract they screw you and make you pay a lot more. Unless you're getting Cingular again in which case never mind.

to answer everyones questions your never gonna find a carrier thats gonna set you up with a decent phone on a no contract, your cheapest route is by purchasing a phone from a third party "ebay, gsmphonesource.com or a random asian shop that ships them over from overseas...
However if you already have a gsm phone and want to sign up with cingular then thats when a no commitment will take place but youd still have to pay for a sim card which is 25 bux...
