like it

I totally agree, the new design is a huge improvement over the 04-07 5 door hatch; with the exception of the grill, which I would have kept in the 06-07 style. I can see how the sedan owners would be upset, but for the hatch owners its a great improvement.

I know Toyota bought a part of Subaru from GM... but seriously, their designs look way too similar. IMHO Sedan looks like a Carolla front with a Yaris rear.

I guess Subaru wanted people to think the '06-'07 styles looked good by bringing garbage in the following year. Hopefully in '10 they'll bring out beauty once more.

I'm soooooooooo glad I got an 04. Somehow I think in the long run, the GDs are going to retain their value even better now with the fugly new corolla-clone.

i wonder if it was a redesign for WRC purposes? It kinda reminds me of the Pugs and Citroens now...

think about this.

corolla = best selling car in the WORLD

business is business and if subaru can sell a few more cars for going with that look, it makes them more money. and like I said before, cops wont be drawn to us as much.

Yeah, keep dreaming.

Nothing personal, but GD chasis are going to be worth squat in the next 5-10 years. People aren't going to pay more money for a used WRX with an oudated chasis and basement option interior when the new models are going to cost about the same as they've been for the past years. To top it off, there are plenty of other respectable sport compacts on the market that are as apealing as a used (probably abused) WRX. The GD body will not be a collector's car just because you think the new body is ugly.

Only Suby fanboys who are pissed the new Impreza doesn't look like a boy-racer any more think the 08 design is fugly. The rest of the world is going to find the new model much more appealing, especially with the new interior. The new design is much more acceptable for the world market and sales will demonstrate that. A manufacturer's victory in the WRC would cement the new chasis capability. Subaru made a smart move ditching the abrasive body style of the GD.

Don't forget that just 7 years ago America though Subaru owners were all a bunch of granola cruntching hippies and lesbians. And now the Suby bandwagonners who bought their precious WRX are all crying that Subaru didn't personal consult them on the 08 concept. Subaru made an improved Impreza and doesn't need the owners of older goofy looking WRXs complaining about the new goofy looking Impreza.[RANT]
