NEW home owner. What to do for cable/internet/security?
Just moved into my new house yesterday and trying to figure out the best deal for mainly internet and cable. Possibly security.
it's a tri level single family home that will be occupied by just me and my fiance so we shouldn't need too much bandwidth. I would like sports channels if possible but not necessary.
Its in Hayward so not sure who would have best quality service in the area. Let me know who you are with and how much you're paying. Thanks!
Might bundle security if it's a good deal also.

I run cable, no phone at all. I have my own security system with a suscrption to a alarm monitoring company, Camera system(my own). I ran cat6 cable with 4 drops per room including the kitchen and garage.
On top of that I have 2 dogs, and a shotgun
As to bandwidth, I will tell you know only 3 of us in the house and between the games and netflix and such, we burn nearly 900gb a month without even trying.

Sonic.net $40/month home phone (unlimited calling plus 8 hours free int'l calling to select countries) and internet (unlimited bandwidth).
Uses AT&T's FTTN (fiber to the node) U-verse line for internet. If that's not available in your area, then DSL should be available.

Definitely Comcast for internet. Performance at 50mbps will be plenty, but know that Blast 105mps is like $10 more.
Don't get a landline. Free VOIP for home phone exists with Obihai and Oomla.
search for the "Cable cutting" Thread on OTA Antenna info. tvfool and Antennaweb are good resources.
Welcome to the "Stack" as they youngings call it these days.
Astound internet only, 50mbs $39 month, Apple TV, Netflix, Hulu plus. Yeah I miss local sports but that's it. I go to the bar or friends or family for important games. Last on my list is a nice HDTV antennae to mount on the roof for free broadcast of local channels... but haven't got to that yet.
How are you guys getting comcast 105mb internet only for only $44?????

Get cable, I use Comcast, you can get a deal anywhere. Then get an Amazon Fire TV and hook up Kodi. Done.
I use a Nighthawk (although I'd go with a Linksys Quad Router) TP-Link Wireless Card on my computer, Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Now I have a WMC running, 2 cable cards for 6 channels, and a program that rips the movies and other 'DRM' crap and moves it to standard formats with no DRM in them. However I am also not your typical computer person. I have 32Tb in a raid, plus another 16x2Tb in two NAS boxes for backup and I am almost full(I think I have 1Tb left)

the concord diablo valley is tough because we're blocked by mt diablo, berkely hills, and sac is pretty far away.
I negotiated and negotiated after our 6mo promo expired but the best they could offer was 30mbs with a basic cable(non HD) package for $59/mo. I didn't even want the channels, but they were saying it would be $69 for internet only. This was a year and a half ago, been much better off with astound. Even the direct mail offers comcast sends me are still crappy.
