New Gorillaz album...

...is a major disappointment. No Del, no Miho, and they replaced Dan the Automator with Dangermouse. I've listened to it half a dozen times now and nothing stands out.

Discuss.

No, the group is actually the brain child of Blur's Damon Albarn (a.k.a. 2-D) and Jamie Hewlett (Murdoc) of Tank Girl fame.

The only reason I liked any of their music was Dan and Del. Other than that, they're basically amature pop stars (IMHO).

As I listen to it more, it seems Dangermouse and the others are trying to make music that's basically a hybrid of a bunch of pop sub genres, it seems as though they concentrate more on making the sound seem halfway in between two genres rather than just plain old kick *** music, which is what I thought the OG Gorillaz was doing. Anyone else get what I'm saying?

Yes, and it's not unexpected coming from Dangermouse. He's based his career on bastardpop/mashups. By itself Demon Days is probably a decent album. But as a follow up to Gorillaz it's a disappointment.

Dangermouse aside, I cant believe they lost Del and Miho. They were such strong characters in the band.
