New to the forum

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting but I have been reading and searching through these forums for a while. I have just bought a 2002 WRX WRB and just wanted to sort of introduce myself.

Welcome to the club. Now remember, you are now required to wave at all other suby drivers punishable on penalty of death. :P

I've got a question. I will be needing to take my car to get a SMOG test for the new registration but I'm not sure if my car will pass. I have the APEXi 3 inch exhaust with downpipe installed. What can I do?

Make sure the engine is really really really warmed up.. then take a shot at smogging it. Odds are it probably wont pass, but its worht a shot. If not you have 2 options. Get it "smogged" which is becoming harder and harder nowadays, or find someone with stock exhaust/downpipe to borrow or buy and temporarily remount.

i thought cars that are less than 5 years old didnt need to be smogged when transferred?

I don't know. When we went to get it registered at the DMV, they gave us a temporary resgistration paper and said they'll give us an actual one when we get it smogged.

since it's awd it's only a regular smog test. My car with no cats except a hi-flow dp passed easily. Just call around and ask if they'll smog a car with aftermarket parts (there are a few). I know the 76 on Stevenson and was it decoto? next to newpark did.

If you're that worried, go to a test only center.
