Subject: New Dent Master in the Bay Area! RE: www.StupidDent.Com
October 9, 2006
All,
For those don’t know me, my name is Leo Chan and have been around since www.impreza-rs.com time. I am mostly on www.i-club.com and www.rs25.com, and rarely, but occasionally, on www.nasioc.com.
Reason I am posting is because I am here to help you so you can help me. I’ve recently been trained and certified by The Ding King Training Institute. They are the only state certified Paintless Dent Repair training institute in California. I also use a set of professional PDR hand tools that are patented and manufactured by The Ding King.
However, with no lies, I am not very experienced. I can bring quarter size dents back to ~80% perfect for sure, and good chance back to 95% perfect. The smaller the dent, the easier it is for me. I am missing a main tool to pull the dents on front doors, so I am limited to those at the moment. It’s on back order, but I should have it in a week or so. Fenders and rear doors are okay. Darker color vehicles have better reflection, therefore easier to fix. However, because of that, darker color vehicles are also easier to spot imperfections. I have full size shop light that I can use and also a small portable light, ding board, for mobile repairs. However, I still need as much ambient lights as possible. The more ambient lights I have the easier it is for me to spot the location of the tip of the tool and faster more accurate it is for me to pull the dent.
With all that said, for those that are willing to take a chance with me, please let me know. My rate per dent will be starting at $25 a dent, just something to cover my time.
Easy -> Hard:
Lighting: Low ambient light, bright ambient light
Reflection: Dark Color Paint, Light Color Paint
Location: Hood, Trunk, Front Fender, Rear Fender, Front Door, Rear Door
Size: Small 1” dent, large 3”+ dent
Type: Small dent, large dent, crease dent, crown or smile dent
Originally I was planning on visiting all the local meets and introduce myself. But all of them start after the sun has gone down. I’ve practice with just the portable ding board/light and even the shop light, I noticed I didn’t have enough ambient light and my ability to repair the dent was dramatically lowered. I am willing to take suggestions on the repair location as long as it is fairly close to zip code 95054. I prefer less driving and more repair time.
NOTE: I am not here to steal business from Justin or any other existing dent masters on i-club. I believe there is more than enough business to go around in the bay area. I truly hope we can co-exist peacefully in online forums such as i-club, just like all the tuners and vendors we have here. Also, I am not here to drive the price down on the PDR market in the bay area. In fact, if you look at my website, my retail pricing is comparable to what is out there. The only reason, it’s so cheap right now, it’s because I am new, not that I am purposely charging lower than other dent masters like Justin.
Alex,
I am more like trying to ask for help than trying to sell my service. But if you feel like I need a vendor status on continue to approach i-club members, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Leo Chan

Nice stuff, sometimes dent days and stuff gets forever to set up and others cannot make it. Great for another dent guy. I have a huuge fist size dent on my fender liner I'm thikning about taking out, it's pretty bad. Can you give me a quote? if it's too much ...well i'm a poor college student so...then it will have to wait.

Ouch! That is a nasty one. I can't really tell, but seems like the paint is cracked/chipped. If that is the case, more paint might come off as I begin the repair.
I have an online estimate tool, which would give you an idea.

But that is a tough one you have there. It's large, right on the body line, and it seems to be a crown/smile dent or multiple dent in close proximity.

Marc,
How the heck are you!? I think the last time I saw you was at Jack London or something.
Are you in the east bay area? I am up there pretty often. Let me know what you have in mind!

btw folks, I am down in Santa Clara area. But don't mind going up to as far as SF or Berkeley area over the weekend if there is a group. Heck since I am new and need the practice, it doesn't have to be a large group.
Unfortunately I do have a full-time job aside from this. Which means I get out at ~5PM. With the way things are now, I get about ~2 hrs in before the sun goes down. And after end of the month (October 29), with Daylight Saving Time ending, I'll have only ~1 hr.
I have an online estimate tool as well... look for the Winter Special...

Also, as you can see from my site (Appt http://www.stupiddent.com/appt-signup.php), I have an auto online sign-up form. The site is fully automated and will list the schedule for the next 21 days.
You can look at the Appointment List (Appt. -> Appointment List http://www.stupiddent.com/appt-list.php) to see who is in the list or you can remove yourself from the list. Of course, you are not obligated even if you don't show. Just so I know who is next and people would know where they stand on the list.
this section is not valid since the meets are too late and no more sun light by the time the meet begins
To see the locations for the next 21 days, you can go to Location (Appt. -> Locations http://www.stupiddent.com/appt-locations.php). I am the only one that can change the location and I would only change it on the date where no one has signed up yet.
With that said. Once we have determind a location, we can use those forms to organize dent days a lot eaiser.

Leo,
How are you doing?! Why don't you email me your location and schedule and see if we can set something up.

Yeah, I know, my gf and I got a kick out of it when we first came up with the name. We were thinking, what is the most common thing people say when they get a dent? Stupid Dent!! LOL!
