New chapter in the Wagon from hell Saga
Well it's been expected for a while now... Yesterday the 5mt *hit the bed. Completely unable to engage 1st and 2nd gear. Grrrr. I truly know the deffinition of love/hate, thanks to this car.
Options:
5MT, cheapest, inferior
RA gearset, better option
V7 6 non-dccd, Better yet, hard to source
V8+ Dccd, best option, pretty damn pricy, integration may not be up to par.
What to do... As if I have the money for any of these options. Anyone have experience with any of these options that could chime in?

Sorry to hear about your problems Jeff, you've got the 2.5L STi block and basically an STi power plant, might as well make it complete
I'd try to get a 6spd non-dccd.

DCCD is cool, but really not badly needed. Now I can only speak for myself, but I barely use my dccd. I'd vote 6spd non-dccd also. 6mt is far more rugged, and the extra gear is nice too.

Yeah I know what you are saying Jeff, as Ed told me a lot of your story. I'm in a pretty similar situation as you, having a 2.0l that I decided to go ***** out on the engine swap and all.
I think you should honestly evaluate what you want with the car. Whether to just fix it and sell it and get a newer car, really think about what you are spending. I would NOT do the v8 w/ dccd. You need HELLA hardware and time to make that work. You my friend are between a rock and a hardspot.
Me, well I am picking up an E46 M3 so my WRX is just my f'd up beater car soon so hell I might as well sink another 10 grand into it...
