that'd be nice, though i hope that they don't plan to integrate the drap strip with the road race course ala sears point.

i've come out of turn 11 at sears on a bike more times than i can count, and proceeded to spin the rear tire for the full length of the strip. VHT/drag rubber and road race rubber don't mix when you've got one wheel drive. it'd be fun in a Subaru, but it'd get old after about the tenth lap i'd imagine.

Yes I've heard of it, and....well....let's just say it isn't nearly the done deal that this article would suggest.

Not saying I don't think it'd be KILLER (and for us South Bay Folks, this is closer than Thunderhill) but I'll wait until it happens before I believe it.

HATER!!!!

Now if they could only build a track just a LITTLE closer to the Bay Area, we would all be set.

I have family in Merced, this is awesome! I can stay there on a friday and get rest and only drive like 10 mins to Castle AFB.

I think a place like that would be great.

I don't mind a dragstrip integrated into the straight, as long as it isn't going uphill, a la Sears Point...

I bet it gets hot as **** out there in Atwater...

These eastern, closer to central valley areas are the only places with cheap enough real estate to build a racetrack.

I hope the road course has elevation changes, I hate flat tracks.

like thunderhill is any cooler? i've been there when it was over 110 in the shade, and there were people dropping from heat exhaustion left right and center. i can't beieve Atwater could be much worse.
